Pretty impressed with this one (then again I quite like my current G3). Lots of boxes ticked in my mind, but I'm very sure that this spec list will command a pretty eye watering price - I'm thinking in the £600-700 list price for SIM free.

Wonder if the battery life and heating annoyances I've got with the G3 have been sorted?

Its shock how expensive these high end devices are becoming if your paying over £250-300 for a smart phone you're paying too much.

Re: LG V10 premium smartphone features dual screens, cameras

Two screens and two cameras actually turn out to be twice as disappointing...

I had thought 'second screen' meant two (roughly) equally sized screens, like a Nintendo DS or the old Donkey Kong handheld games... not a tiny little section of the one and only screen that just displays different data like all the existing info bars.

I had wondered if two cameras meant taking 3D photos and videos... rather than just the choice between widescreen and normal selfies. Is the demand for such a thing THAT high?

Depends how you use it - if you're pushing that "£250-300" as an annual tech spend then spending £600 for something you can guarantee you're going to hold onto for 2 years is borderline justifiable. That said, I'm maybe a cheapskate - I budget for £400ish for something that I hold onto for that two years.

The "two screens" idea interested me too - although I assumed something like the YotaPhones, with that secondary screen on the back. LG's implementation isn't revolutionary in my book, but I'm not going to call it out as daft just yet awhile - I did that with the back-mounted power button on the G3 and then had to eat my words. Clamshell design also isn't going to work - see Xperia P tablet

3D photos/videos wouldn't sell - see Amazon Fire phone for that. And yes, unfortunately, the techno-narcissists that the V10 is aimed out are going to love that wide angle feature. Me personally it's a bit "meh", heck I can't remember the last time I used the normal front facing camera - might as well be taped over in my phones! Although I can't help thinking that LG are missing a trick here - surely far better to do that "group selfie" camera setup on a phone targetted to the teenage audience - I know my eldest kid would make fullsome use of that feature.

It looks damn good but manufacturers always focus on the cameras and new gimmicky features. Give me a phone that lasts a day and then I will be interested.

Another novelty that'll lose support in a year. Great

Re: LG V10 premium smartphone features dual screens, cameras

First thing did was scroll down and check whether it has 1. microSD and 2. removable battery. As it tick both boxes, it gets in my short-list.

Water resistance would be welcome too, but they are rendered useless once you use 3rd party fat batteries anyway so it is a bit of a necessary trade off so far. I would really like it if manufacturers provide not only removable battery, but also a choice of 1st party very high capacity battery and carefully designed back case to remain water resistant regardless of the battery. I don't need waterproof, as I am not exactly going to swim or bathe with it, but it needs to handle very very heavy rain. So something more like a good weather seal.

I'd take that over two screens and two cameras and even a cutting edge smartphone camera.
