I love Lian Li, but they always make some very odd choices in their designs, like why place the PSU at top? moderne PSU's all have wires long enough to support a bottom mounted PSU, on top you will have to hide a lot of excess wires.

I think its because of the lack of rear mounting for a fan so they are using the PSU to exhaust hot air out of the case, possibly.

If they included 240mm top fan support exhaust wouldn't have been an issue.

psu at the top makes sense to me.... if they'd have put the psu at the bottom the case would have been bigger or they would have had to drop the 5.25" bays because the rad fits in the 'gap' over the cpu/ram on the motherboard. If you move the motherboard up for the psu at the bottom you might as well use the standard top rad mounting.

Is this a better option... not sure but I understand why they've designed it in this layout because it does make a more compact layout when including optical bays.

Very retro in styling but with the foresight to provide a great watercooling tray. I also agree that it makes no sense having a top mounted PSU. For a company with a large history of innovated cases, this is simultaneously a rather large step both forward and back.

That said, if the PSU was at the bottom, then the motherboard would be pushed up to the top and then the watercooling bracket & radiator would impede on the top graphics card. Just appears to be a nice design idea with a number of deal breaking flaws.

It's so the mobo sits low enough that the radiator doesn't interfere with the PCI array. That's also why there is no rear exhaust, when the radiator is installed it will block the majority of that area.

Lian Li have produced some great cases, but this isn't one of them IMO.

I like how they blocked off the area by the motherboard connectors to improve the positive air pressure credentials, but I could see the top exhaust combined with the drive rack blocking the bottom front fan starving the graphics cards of airflow. Not a problem if your GPUs are water cooled, of course.

I think it's mainly due to dust concernes as it tends to settle at the bottom of the case and most cases are on the floor maybe
