I find it hard to believe there are problems that can't be fixed, even if they have to do something drastic like rebuild it in a different engine. I'd happily wait another year for a brand new version that runs properly.

They'd never recoup the costs of doing that, and it'd be unnecessary, realistically. I guess they just can't justify the time and money that would need to be invested in debugging and extensively testing what must be a massive codebase. Just a shame that with the convergence of consoles and PCs that these things aren't smoother. PC gaming will benefit from ports being easier IMO.

I agree that the game was chaotic when it was initially released. However, after playing it since its re-release. I would describe my gameplay as slightly annoying but playable. I have the occasional frame drop to around 10fps, it crashes on me sometimes. But apart from that, the frame rate is acceptable. They have tried their best to fix it, they have fixed the major issues. But the port is still overall bad with poor optimization.

This is all on a computer with 8gb RAM and a 2gb AMD card.

Well, that seems like a refreshingly honest, frank and eminently reasonable reaction to what appears to be ongoing, and to some extent at least, unresolveable problems.

Would that more companies lived up to responsibilities like that.

Not having bought the game, I'm not affected, but colour me impressed. If I ever bought Steam games, which I don't, this would make me more inclined to trust them.

Unlike Talktalk, whose reaction to their scandalous absence of security and hard-nosed attitude to people wanting out of contracts as a result, ensures I never will be a customer of theirs.

I am confused. All games are created on PC's and then configured to e playable on various consoles. Why are there then bugs in the PC version ?

For a start, the PC version runs in DirectX, whereas the Playstation version runs in GNM and GNMX. Low level stuff should be comparable, but not the same - hardware differentiation, various vendors and drivers, various OSs - console versions don't have to contend with that.

The same thing I was saying ever since console exclusives started coming out, it is a shame that the developers couldn't do the port themselves like they did with City and Asylum (which still is amazing on PC) and this is making me shift to consoles, which is something I never wanted in the first place.

Yeah but what does XBox One run? I presume it's DX11-point-something due to MS making a big song-and-dance about DX12 coming to XBO for games.

What I find most annoying is that I thought we were entering an era of engines where most games are essentially mods. As long as the engines have been written correctly for each platform, the game should happily sit on top of each with minimal tweaking. Obviously, this is not the case and since consoles went with x86 and DirectX parts, the quality of ports has been worse than ever. I still feel that HSA is throwing a spanner in the works though.

Re: Batman: Arkham Knight PC customers offered full refunds

Yup, the Xbox One is running DirectX. No excuse there really, but of course the hardware is still homogenised. Overall it's not good enough anyway - a project with this amount of capital investment and a huge number of obviously skilled people involved shouldn't come out broken beyond repair, that's just silly. Plenty of other big games this year that have had bugs but been fixed adequately very quickly.

As the Xbox One moves to DX12, with greater access to the underlying hardware, we may find this situation improves. Of course, that would only really make a difference for gamers on Windows 10. I imagine a large amount of legacy code would be needed to port to older versions of Windows.

I will giggle like a schoolgirl if Feral manages what Rockstar/Iron Galaxy could not.

I don't know when bug apppear (maybe on high-frate), but i bought the game a few weeks ago and end it without any bug. Btw, i played Batman Arkham Knight in low quality (still amazing and pleasant) so it is probably a reason of no bugs (sacrifice high quality for a smoothy gameplay). Finally i can refund it, i can't be happier!
