This is the 2nd game using this engine, and considering the Dev time that must have gone into F4, it's honestly not that suprising

And let's hope he never has to use 'enterprise' software. More bugs than Australia.

Re: First patch for Fallout 4 to arrive next week

tbh I'm about 50h into the game and haven't had a single crash, only had 1 bug and that was a rainbow texture effect on shadows and that was only after tabbing out and back in.
Only complaint I've got about the engine is performance - and that's mostly due to effects being mandatory at significant performance cost. After disabling some of them by editing the ini's and forcing them read-only to prevent them reverting I was able to play on my laptop. It's only got an hd8730m (700MHz 384 shaders 8rops 24tmus 2GB-128bit-gddr3) and with lowest default graphics was achieving 12fps upon Wodsworth re-union, after tweaks the same point was 53fps.
Once the engine is better understood (it has changed fairly significantly since Skyrim) more performance will become available or more quality at same performance.

Re: First patch for Fallout 4 to arrive next week

If you have a AMD card set a custom profile for the game and force lower tessalation levels, that sorts the frame rate out, I run 32x on my R9 fury and still have drops, with 16x its a smooth 60fps all round.

Wonder if they'll patch the infinite caps bug, and the one where the dog can go get the cryo gun in Vault 111.

Re: First patch for Fallout 4 to arrive next week

No 21x9 display support, only a few keys are rebind-able all others are hard locked, no joystick support and that's before getting into the game.
The bugs in game can be quite funny, my dog was fighting a molerat and they both ended up zooming up into the sky and came down with an almighty crash killing the molerat and me having to administer a stim pack to the dog as it looked like he had a broken back.
There are quite a few of these wtf moments.

Re: First patch for Fallout 4 to arrive next week

I'm getting a few crashes, and got more when I first tried using odd resolutions because the triple screen is a hack to get work, rather than native.

My only real complaint is that it keeps resetting to use the damn controller if I leave it plugged in despite what I changed the in game settings to.

The other problem is I can't get the Pip-Boy on my Nexus 7, it never finds the game on the network.

Hope they address stuttering, lockup at terminals and enable SLI support.

Re: First patch for Fallout 4 to arrive next week

Not got problems so far but what is annoying me is the new pip-boy layout and the lack of being able to bind keys or create short-cuts. Slows things down massively as I have to relearn the pip-boy. Can't use mouse wheel to scroll weapons is a pain too.
