And there hits another game my 1.5Gb 580 GTX can't really handle... time for an upgrade I think! Shame really as its still pretty decent as long as you don't run out of vram.

I wish developers would take a little time optimising things instead of just doing near nigh direct ports from their console code, it seems, when compared to PS4 & Xbone specs, that their just throwing higher specced hardware at the problem instead, maybe that speaks volumes of what to expect when it's released, another half-arsed console port riddled with bugs.

From my experience with JC2, Avalanche don't half-ass the port. I found it to play very well on older mid range hardware, with plenty of configuration options. I enjoyed it on PS3 too. Considering I must have soaked 200+ hours in JC2 this will be pretty essential for me.

They made Mad Max recently on the same engine and it runs beautifully and there were no day one bugs either, so I would guess JC3 will be the same.

I don't think thats fair - PC spec requirements have always gone up. Problem is as graphics/AI improve you need a better system. I suspect the textures are huge for 4K... I've always had to upgrade my PC every 3-5 years and this is no different.

IDK if it's fair or not, it's just i can't help wonder why the minimum specs for the PC are almost double what is available on consoles.

PS4 has 1.84 teraflops of GPU power, GTX 670 2.7
PS4/Xbone has 5GB available RAM for developers, PC combined (System+GPU) is 8GB
    Xbone has a 1.75GHz 8-core, PC minimum recommended is a 3.3GHz 4-core or 3GHz 6-core.

I get when developing for console they can optimise better for a fixed platform (closer to metal) and that DX adds some overheads on PCs, but double really?

This will probably be because it will be targeting 60FPS on PC and not on consoles.

Safety net. You would probably find it runs on 4-6GB RAM. RAM specs for PC have to take into account a variable and (potentially much) larger OS overhead. Most games that state 8GB as the minimum show as using <4GB when I look in task manager.

JC2 straight up crashes every single time I've ever tried to play it! XD

Plenty of time trying to work out the issue and I just gave up, I only paid a couple quid for it in the end.

About equal but they ain't, at best the minimum specs over egged it by 30%
Either way it's probably best to ignore my moaning, ignore my mumbling as I go sit in the corner.

Mad max is empty world with low resolution textures so even if its not optimized at all, it will run good since its not demanding at all, this one is highly populated world with tons of post effects, so here comes the real test for their engine, from the requirements, it seems ****ty optimized since PS4 with gimped 7850 are capable of running it on 10800 while min req for PC is GTX 670 and 7870 which pees on PS4 GPU, anyway, lets wait and see but dont hold your hopes up.

That may be because it didn't detect the required amount of awesome that you need to posses. Did you try loading it while parachuting? Ideally, with a grappling hook? That should help.

Re: Just Cause 3 minimum and recommended specs published

I'm wondering when reading minimum spec CPU is i5 2500K and recommended is i7 3770 is JC3 making uses of HT?

When comparing the 2 CPUs, differences are Sandy vs Ivy, cache size and only a 200MHz turbo speed difference which too me wouldn't warrant a rise in CPU requirement unless HT is coming into play.

I presume so as it seems a highly treaded game, Six core phenom to 8 core fx otherwise they could of recommended the 6 core fx if the number of threads were not important. Maybe as others have suggested being ported from next gen consoles which need threaded apps to get the most out of their tiddly 8 core cpus @ 1.6/1.75ghz it also requires PC processors with a high tread count to get the most out of it.

Re: Just Cause 3 minimum and recommended specs published

Cheers, looks like I may have to keep an eye out for an i7 4790K to keep my gaming rig going for longer. Of course depending upon data after game released as to how much performance is lost with lower thread count CPU.
