So you will probably have to wait until Windows Update makes it available for you.

This is just the latest in a number of bizarre decisions to come out from Microsoft lately. Why on Earth would you force prospective upgraders to first install an immature version of your latest and greates OS followed by another installation of a vastly superior version.

And considering they're both full installations you get to download upwards of 3GB twice. And waste twice the amount of time. Oh, and you don't even get a truly "clean installation".

......MS guyz do not trust their own updates that's why you have to first install windows 10 then waste hours updating it (imagine getting your copy of BF4 with Microsoft ideologies which you have to 'update' to run properly meaning if windows crashes.....you will suffer.)

this just seems stupid..... You can download the original iso and then download all the updates which will clearly total more than just downloading windows 10+update built in and that's ignoring the sheer amount of time it takes for updates to 'update' and the clean up that's needed after it.

Suggests MS are not confident with the 1511 update. If you install fresh using the 1511 update you cannot roll back to a more stable version. If you install an old version and then update you can roll back if there are issues.

This is the only reason I can think of.

This is crap. When I updated to Win10 back in July, it didn't work at all via Windows Update (from Win7 home) so I had to use the MCT. The 1511 update that came out recently also wouldn't install using Windows Update so I had to use the MCT again.

    Thanks, MS.

and just think with the current approach MS is taking this is the way forward.... No real option to control your own updates in case of issues and in some cases no way to fix issues caused by updates without reinstalling from scratch only (ie the recent boot loop issues) to have the same issue on the next automatic update. And people wonder why some of us like to control when an update is installed on our pc...

To be fair though that 'some' is in the minority, Enterprise customers have full control over Windows 10 and most other people using Windows have next to no knowledge of computers.

still doesn't explain why the 'pro' users are lumped in with the home users and not closer to the enterprise customers... pro was always supposed to be the 'professional' version aimed at small businesses and the nerdy people like us

Fully agree, what i said was more to highlight how (IMHO) Microsoft have decided to carve up their customer base, there's those who pay for Volume Licensing and then there's the rest of us who pay in less obvious ways.

And there's those that dig their heels in and refuse to play by MS's rules. Personally I am NOT ceding control over what is and is not installed on MY PC to MS. That is a red line issue for me.

Re: Microsoft Windows 10 November Update ISO files no longer public

Does the link to the 10586 media creation tool in the article still download a 1511 ISO?

I am using it now to download *something*, but unsure what version it is pulling...

    Cheers,

    Su

Looks like it's back up, apparently the reports of the upgrade resetting some peoples privacy settings turned out to be true so they pulled the update because of the legal implications of doing such a thing, now all the have to do is fix it so the upgrade doesn't uninstall customers software.

And if those reports are true, then that absolutely makes my point about forced, mandatory upgrades.

    Straight from the horses mouth.
When the November update was installed, a few settings preferences may have inadvertently not been retained for advertising ID, Background apps, SmartScreen Filter, and Sync with devices.
What i find interesting is that they say "we are working to help restore their previous settings over the coming days" The question i have is how do they know what those settings were?

Because a snapshot was made on your machine before the update was applied so all they have to do is restore those settings from local snapshot?

Or they can just ask the NSA
