Cooling system - Went custom-watercooled.
Motherboard and CPU - Went to Z77 and 3570K from an AMD setup.
Yes, very happy... but still crossing fingers for the competitions!!
Well, I started the year buy going from a first gen APU system with a Nvidia 650 to an i7 system with a 760, a substantial change you can imagine!
I then upgraded my 60GB OCZ Agility 3 to a 240GB Crucial MX100, which felt nicer to have more on the drive, the Agility 3 spent most of its life nearly full.
I upgraded my mouse from some generic-ish Zalman piece (which was very comfy and I still use at work) to a Logitech G600, which took some getting used but is now as comfy as my Zalman but more useful.
The next upgrade is not quite a PC upgrade. I bought a gen 8 Microserver and 2 2TB hard drives for it. Mass media storage and always on access is a great upgrade.
In total, I think I've spent about £600 this year on PC tech, and I don't regret a penny of it. I never rush a purchase and I buy second hand where possible so I very rarely see a better deal after the point.
So, I would say it's money VERY well spent.
Steam - ReapedYou - Feel free to add me!!
Went from a GTX 960 to a 970, GTX 960 went into my media PC to replace the GTX 750ti, left with a 750ti which I then put back in with my 970 to run the second monitor... rubbish circulation I know...
love my Microserver running FreeNAS
MSI R9 390 to replace a 660ti
Acer Aspire V Nitro Black edition with skylake and GT960m to replace an old dell xps work laptop.
Upgraded from a 128GB Samsung 830 SSD to a 256GB 850 Pro. Meeehhh... waste of money, but at least they gave me 10 years warranty on it.
A bunch of cheap 3TB Toshiba SATA hard drives for my stack of HP Microservers. Can't beat cheap!
Just bought another N36L off Ebay today, these things are sooooo... useful to have.

Might switch my Xfire R9 290's out for an Arctic Island flagship. Everything else is pretty on par with enthusiast tier stuff. Rocking a 5930K, 16GB DDR4, M.2 SSD, several hard drives and regular SSD's...Phanteks Enthoo Primo case and a 4K monitor...
Speaking of monitors, i've been wanting a 144hz 1440p panel to put next to my 4K.
Every single one - I bought a new PC. I might buy a 2-3TB HDD before the end of the year, since I currently don't have any - only SSD on the board.
I'm also thinking about getting a second R9 390 next year.
Mono, CPU, cooler, ram, vga card, ssd.
New PC basically.
As far as I remember, I haven't upgraded any parts in 2015.
PSU for more stable voltages and SSD storage (not installed yet as will do OS refresh at same time)and normal HDD to replace failing one, pleased so far and system better for it.
7950 to 290x
A few better fans to help with the above.
Replaced my ageing but still awesome MSI GTX570 PE OC with a Sapphire R9 380 4Gb Nitro as the vram requirements were hitting my system hardest on newer releases.
Quite an expensive year for me considering I was going to sit out 2015 and do a full system overhaul for Zen.
Case: Moved from Corsair 650d to a Silverstone FT05B. Brilliant move, I was never really happy with the 650d and the Silverstone is much better in terms of airflow/noise ratio. Plus it's quite a bit smaller, which is nice as cases in general are only getting bigger.
CPU Cooler: Replaced a Coolermaster 212 with a Noctua D15S, purely for noise and one eye on the future. As with everything Noctua it's brilliant but pricey.
SSD: Replaced my mechanical drives with a 1TB Samsung EVO, as would expect a nice boost but nothing exciting to say.
GPU: Upgraded my stock cooler 7970 to a 290X Vapor-X, nice reduction in noise (can you spot a theme here?) and a pretty decent boost in performance. But it was bought primarily to be used in conjunction with the below.
Monitor: Bought a BenQ XL2730Z for it's lovely Freesync and 1440p/144hz goodness. This has been a massive move, I don't think I dislike anything about it.
