Now that is both surprising and not at the same time to me. I'm surprised that the growth was that big but i'm not surprised that the sales were that big because the Surface is really becoming something of a game change for MS
It does not surprise me at all. We have the Pro 3 with i5 and I put Windows 10 on it recently. It is a great peice of kit. Easily as good as a mid range laptop but far more flexible. I'm in the US next year on holiday and I can see me coming home with a Pro 4
"Online Tablet Share TRENDING By Brand" - Not that I understand what that means but it doesn't read "sales" to me!
"Average Selling price by Brand" - So if I sold 1 tablet for £1000 this would put me top!
I'm sort of surprised the Surface has gained so much market share, though I'm glad to see that people still want a real flexible computer rather than a half-toy (I count iPads and Android tablets in that category).
There also seems to be some "cool" involved with Surface, I've noticed the Surface cropping up as the protagonist's device of choice in a lot of TV and films lately, replacing the iPads and Samsung tablets that were ubiquitous in the role a year or two ago - I know there is marketing dollars behind that but they still have to be "cool" enough to fit in with an image conscious production.
Even though I love the surface, it surprises me that its quite at ipad level of sales.
I've seen plenty of laptops replaced by surfaces, but know many more who have multiple ipads in their household,
but they don't need to change/update those ipads - so that may be part of the slowdown.
Gutted i missed my sp4 i7 delivery. role on tomorrow!
Interesting thing to see will be the iPad Pro effect on their sales. I definitely think the iPad mini has cannibalised revenue from the iPad.
throw new ArgumentException (String, String, Exception)
I think that's very true. Most people who wanted an iPad have already bought one, and the newer versions are not giving any compelling reasons for people to upgrade every year.
I think a lot of people used to have a Windows laptop plus an iPad. And what the Surface range has done is replaced both those products with a single device.
Would be interesting to see figures for how much of traditional laptop sales the Surface range has cannibalised...
This is nice to see and that's coming from an iPad user and fan. I'm looking at getting a new tablet and the iPad pro and surface pro are at the top of my list.

Not surprised one bit, Surface is a far better product than ipad. Apple is overrated and has been for a number of years now.
iPad is a different product from the surface. One is a full PC and the other has the biggest app library available on any tablet and is very easy to use.

People who say that Apple products are overrated are often the ones hardly using them or havnt used them at all. They are very good for what they do.
Let's not forget that Microsofts attempts at traditional Arm based tablet have failed completely and that experiment is now over. The surface pro was a new product niche and it's these unexploited niches that often the big hits. The surface offers laptop level power in tablet form that can comfortably replace your laptop and run all your desktop programs/apps. That is something truely awsome. I am a UNIX/Linux/Mac OS user largely due to the cyber security role that I work in but have been incredibly impressed by by the surface pro from the first generation onwards.
Apple has gambled that people want amazing battery life, wafer thinness and ultra light/portable in a professional tablet with iOS rather than OS X. I'm not convinced. I believe people want the full x86 processor in an easy to use and portable manor.
Also I believe the surface pro is canabilising laptop sales over tablet sales which are seeing a steady decline. If I wanted to I could put pencils on the list and claim that a rise in pencil sales is eating into the iPad market. Anything can be proven with stats .
