    I very much doubt you'll be able to hear the difference from any of the current popular USB DAC/amp solutions available now for similar money or less.

    Tend to agree. The reproduction and clarity will still depend on the sound equipment it's played through. ALC1150 on a good board is about as good as it gets and still sounds awful on a cheap headset or cheap desktop speakers.

    depending on the end product $2-300 might be a good investment - especially for an Audio Note product.

    Yes I agree. I'm glad two such reputable firms are taking this route. I think it will be interesting to compare. I think with a combination of quality headphones, software, and a quality audio card, then listening could be transformed. I'm always amazed when I upgrade, just how much more I hear in a tune/recording.
