Re-evaluate.. yes - it was a promising sounding card but at a nonsensical (IMHO) price point. 980 price cuts on the way?

Eh, no. Tempted, but no sale: I'd need to do a complete rebuild. Still, I can see a few people revisiting those reviews if they're due a new build at the minute...

Price cuts like this will only help bring in more superpowered smaller technology. Meaning our PCs will continue getting smaller. Great!

You'd have to be looking at some of the properly small mITX cases to make this necessary and then you'd probably fall foul of CPU cooling options and/or fan mountings for the cooler on the R9 Nano? A lot of mITX cases can accommodate full sized GFX cards, maybe at the cost of a drive bay or a smaller PSU.

Yes, I'd like something smaller than the Node 304 I've currently got but then it does has a full size 980 and a watercooled 4960K in it...

It's about time... their cards just dont perform as well, I wish they'd reduce the price. What hopes I had for the fury release have migrated to their 400 series release.

Slightly different, I bought a GTX 950 to tide me over for a year or so as I could't decide on any upper mid range + cards.

I would have bought this at the new price though. Shame.

The point of the Nano was always to open up the option of building into PROPER mITX cases in the first place, and there are so many good low profile CPU coolers on the market that CPU cooling is an utter non-issue. Also the Nano is the 175W air-cooled version, so there are no mountings to consider for it (you may be thinking of the Fury X, which has closed loop water cooling) - at which point many small ITX cases will have a 120mm fan mount for a closed loop CPU cooler if you want to go that way.

I've never understood people who get all excited about building a mITX rig then stick it in a case that's bigger than many mATX cases. You lose the expansion options of mATX without gaining the space-saving benefit of mITX. The Nano is for SFF enthusiasts who want to build proper mITX rigs but still want to maximize their available performance. Plus there's always the possibility that an affordable Nano will drive more case manufacturers towards doing decent small mITX cases instead of the hulking monsters that have been the norm so far. Fingers crossed, eh

My bad, I was thinking of the Fury X

With the Node 304 (in white) I was aiming for something that would sit in an AV unit and be reasonably anonymous, and I think it more or less does the job. I did look at the Silverstone RVZ01/2 but to be honest, they looked too big At the time I had to discount the Coolermaster 110, which would have been ideal but for the GPU and PSU size issues. Might go back and revisit it... (can always shove the 980 in my other PC!)
