Given their previous attitudes, I'm guessing most of them will complain that it's not a Mac.
Well they needed something to counteract all the bad press they've recently been getting for simply taking advantage of half-baked tax laws.
This is quite awesome of google.
What previous attitudes?
It's pretty bold of Google to show such a gesture when it's such a controversial topic in Europe. Will generate positive and negative opinions from everyone. And, in typical American fashion, it's really just an advertisement ploy. /sigh
Never mind being controversial in Europe - have a think how encouraging "wet backs"* is going to play to the domestic (US) audience. Especially a certain Republican candidate - you know ... 'amster 'ead wiv 'is wall!
* EDIT: realised that - after I typed it - that this was an unfortunate turn of phrase - no insult intended, plus I actually find that particular US description pretty unpleasant.
might as well give them guns right away
Good for Google, although they will probably write this off against tax in Germany too.
I suppose if they make a similar offer to other countries supporting refugees then the Danish Government will confiscate them to pay for their stay?
Migrants do better here ... they get given cash to buy a car.
I suspect that many of these "free" computers will end up at car-boot sales and local markets, like most donations of goods as aid.
