Firefox but my patience is stretched with the bugs, black screens and general instability.

That's quite surprising, as I haven't had any kind of serious problem with FF for several years. Have you empirically identified FF as the culprit?

Chrome; easiest way (for me) to sync stuff between PC, phone and tablet.

I'm a bit of a webcomic addict and have found FF quite often breaks if you attempt to load more than ~64 tabs at once, had to split my webcomic bookmark folder into two and load them in two batches otherwise i end up with broken 'zombie' tabs that can't be clicked on or closed.

EDIT: though i suppose as long as you don't use the session restore feature and open tabs at a normal rate it'll be fine
I have hundreds of tabs open (though not all active). They are remembered from session to session (closing and opening the browser) and I have no problem with this (except that it takes a while from the moment I open FF until I can use it).

Firefox on x86 (with Ghostery plug in) and Ghostery browser on phones/tablets. Not interested in being tracked all the time.

I use Chromodo, then Opera, Firefox and Chrome in that order. I hardly use Chrome at all because of the privacy issues.

Much of the Chrome add ons are compatible with Chromodo and Opera since they are all forks of Chromium.

Used to be Opera. Now using Vivaldi, since Opera went to the dark side. It's still a work in progress and somethings still not quite right with it. But it is one hell of a lot better than Chrome. And don't start me on IE, which only gets used in absolute dire circumstances when the website I need to use will only seemingly work with IE. Normally at that point I wouldn't bother to use the website again.

Re: QOTW: Which desktop web browser do you prefer?

Like most here I tend to use Chrome - not because I like it overly much, but solely because it runs on Windows, Linux and Android and syncs nicely between those various OS's.

#2 on my list is Firefox. Quality is a bit patchy compared to Chrome, but current Firefox has a lighter footprint and when lathered with ABP, NoScript, etc I trust it for my meagre online banking needs.

I used to quite like Opera, but I've not used it for a while.

IE and Safari are strictly use-if-nothing-else-is-available, or in the case of IE, it's used if Firefox/Chrome have issues with a particular website.

Career status: still enjoying my new career in DevOps, but it's keeping me busy...

Re: QOTW: Which desktop web browser do you prefer?

I'm using the x64 version of Firefox, and more specifically the beta version (no particular reason for that other than I like to use the newest version of almost everything, and yes I ran the previews for Windows 10 too). I do occasionally use IE/Edge, mainly on my Lumia 930 as there really isn't much else. I occasionally use Chrome at work, but only at work, never at home.

Re: QOTW: Which desktop web browser do you prefer?

I use all the browser i.e. Edge, Firefox, Chrome simultaneously. Its my daily routine to work with all three browser with atleast 2-3 pages with 40 tabs on each page each browser. I use chrome in limited way (with less than 30 tabs on each page) as it sucks in memory management and eats up more space than any other.
Though I prefer using firefox it's smooth but I don't mind using edge(previously IE) it works well just like any other browser unlike chrome which just eats up the memory.

Bit of testing: It turns out a session resume doesn't actively load tabs until you click on them, whereas loading a bookmark folder loads everything at once...

I guess that's where the stability problems come from.

I'm looking forwards to when FF eventually gets it's per-tab individual process thing going, that should fix my issues from loading too many tabs in one go

I used to be an Opera fan as I could use it on Linux and Windows, it was very customizable and was not the usual bunch. Opera feel into the Chrome bubble so I was left without a friendly browser till I was lucky enough to find Maxthon and I will not be moved on from there for a while.

Chrome as I use it across all my pcs, laptops and phone and tablet.

Just intuitive to use, great addons and fast!

I don't even think about web-browsers. Since I use Debian Linux I use Iceweasel [Firefox fork] that comes with it. People complicate their lives with stupid, trivial things too much, whilst there are loads of better things you can spend your synapses on. Cheers!

Re: QOTW: Which desktop web browser do you prefer?

Chrome: quick, low need to customize but easy enough to do. Firefox is easy to tailor -- if you're into that. Chrome just works.
