Well my GPU doesn't sound like it has a hope in hell in running this. Guess my 580 is hitting must replace point in the same way my 285 did (That was DX11 - This looks like DX12 doing it). Annoying really as it still really good at 1080p DX11... (At a guess my OC'd 3570 would be good enough though)

There's a chance that the recommended specs are just put out by the marketing department who eavesdrop on development chatter and Google for system specifications.

Seen that happen a few times, outside of the games industry.

You are, of course, completely right. It doesn't reflect well though.

If a game doesn't run on an integrated GPU, it simply shouldnt be released.

Don't see where a 6Gb Fury X is mentioned? Two video cards are mentioned then an amount of vram, which I assume is a minimum amount.

How much does a 980ti have?

4GB is the maximum you can get on an R9 Fury.

980ti has 6GB, it kind of has to because of the bus width means it will have 3GB, 6GB or like the titan modes 12GB. Of those only 6GB is really sensible, 3GB isn't enough and 12 is a waste of money. Nvidia could have put 1GB on two of the ram channels, and 2GB on the third channel to make 4 in total but that didn't go down so well last time they did that.

Edit to add: If they really tried they might be able to get a 980ti with 7GB of ram, twice what a 970 has. Cheap shot I know, but someone was going to say it

HBM isn't directly comparable to GDRR from what I understand so to say 4GB is the recommended amount could easily be confused with the GTX980. Maybe memory bandwidth is important.

When running a modern API it would seem so and probably then some. Oxide demo'd a 2.0Ghz FX8 comfortably beating a 4770K at 3.9Ghz.

More bandwidth doesn't help you if you have 5.5GB of textures that you need to keep in memory - if you're calling stuff over the PCIe slot then you might as well have the bandwidth of a DDR3 card

every copy of Quantum Break will come with a full-game download for Alan Wake for Xbox 360
Alan Wake's going to get an awful lot of Xbox 360 downloads.

Still HBM and GDDR aren't directly comparable in data compression.

Re: Quantum Break to arrive on PC as a DirectX 12 only title

I personally am glad to see the start of games being produced for DX12, I want to see if there is any real world improvements like there have been with previous versions of DX.

But I actually wonder if this arguement should be more about the fact that there is no alternative but windows 10 ?
