The first two LG X Series (exceptional feature smartphones) are the X cam and X screen.

I can't see either of those being a big hit. Bit its nice to see 2gb/16gb becoming more standard over 1gb/8gb.

Be interesting to see how the dual rear camera system works.

Why make the "screen" version with a smaller screen? Seems a bit illogical.

I've actually found my battery life on my G3 has been great since I upgraded it to Marshmallow just the other day. That said, that only really applies if youre leaving the phone inactive long periods of time though. If you're watching videos or whatever on it I imagine the battery would still tank pretty hard.

They're some chunky bezels (side bezels plus the chin and forehead) considering they don't feature front-facing speakers.

Neither appeals to me, but these ought to hit a good price-point considering the full-fat G4 is available for ~£300 (let's ignore the current price of the V10).

Re: LG X Series phones boast one exceptional feature each

To be honest the best budget handset (from a major manufacturer) I can see at the moment is the Samsung A3 (2016 edition). Still, it's not worth upgrading from my Nexus 5 for that.

Basically I want the Nexus 5 with the LG V10's camera. Here's hoping...

Presumably that's a third party ROM, seeing as g last time I checked - LG were still talking about March for the G3's software update.

As to the two phones, I applaud LG for trying this, because I don't think that they're too far off base. Although I'd expect to see reviews (bgr and elsewhere) complaining that the resulting phone is a poor compromise - why only one top end spec item?

Interesting, I'll have to fire up LG Bridge and see if it's available to me. No sign of an OTA yet.

Ye I can't say for sure when the update became available for me, I just checked for software updates 2/3 days ago now and it upgraded me to 6.0. I just had a google and apparently Poland G3 received M Deccember 2015 so perhaps I just had the right timing. Would've thought theyd make more fuss about it though.

That said, the OTA wasn't running that great, ended up finding the stock ROM on XDA and installed it as a fresh device, running much better since. So currently I'm using a 3rd party rom of the D855 source LG published. Original update came through OTA though, think my filesystem is probably just a mess after the failed rooting back on lollipop else it wouldve probably run fine.

As a HTC One M8 owner I can tell you that dual cameras is not necessarily something to boast about about.
With that said, I have no doubt that LG will utilise it better than for some shoddy depth of field after effect.

It's available for a lot less than £300, Vodafone were doing them for £225 on PAYG just the other week.
