It's easy to make this kind of profit when you rip people off, selling them video cards that say '4GB' on the box, but really, only have 3.5GB of usable memory. Methinks this is the swan song of the GreedForce graphics card era. When AMD has a Zen core APU with Polaris graphics and HBM, nobody'll need to buy add-in boards for gaming. NVidia will have to make all their money off HPC, and AMD is already targeting that sector of the market, too.
