Re: Valve's SteamVR Performance Test assesses PC VR readiness

If you use the launch command -multigpu it will use crossfire/sli.

My score went form 7.4 to 10.4

Re: Valve's SteamVR Performance Test assesses PC VR readiness

Ummm. I was expecting my old 580 to fail misrably and yet I got a stupidly good result... Confused. I was just thinking about replacing it. Maybe there is life in the old card yet???

Edit: Second run was identical. I'm not doing anything special. How can a 580 beat a 970...

Edit 2: Frame count is very low. Might be part of it but why would it do such low FPS...

thanks for that info percy- i went from 7.1 to 10.2 on my r9 295x2.

    nice one!

strangely, putting another 295 in made no difference whatever.

while i`m on, if you get close to your monitor and do that old `magic eye` squint, you can actually see the test in 3D on an ordinary monitor.

    naah, just kidding ;}

ValveTime has found models for "Half-Life 3 / Left 4 Dead 3 / Character Textures" inside the SteamVR Performance Test software.

That was a big install for not a lot, pleased with my solid 11 though, not that I've got much interest in VR.

Re: Valve's SteamVR Performance Test assesses PC VR readiness

My system is considered Capable, but not Ready... but if I O/C the GPU, it juuuuuuuuuuuuust creeps into the Ready green zone.

I'm hoping either my performance will be jolly decent in the mere 1080p I'm so far used to, or that decent GPUs will be affordable by the time I can afford the VR headset.

Re: Valve's SteamVR Performance Test assesses PC VR readiness

The test is rubbish - supposedly an overclocked GTX570 is within 10% of a mildly overclocked Titan Black, similar in speed to a GTX570 and a GTX570 is in-between a GTX960 and a GTX970,which means its faster than a GTX770 easily.

And maybe they are, for VR. Or source engine, at least

Please see my test above. My 580 hit 11 with ease. Its only got a small factory overclock and isn't even the 3gb model. My total frame count was very low though...

I went from 7.1 to 10.1 with MSI R9 390 Gaming and FX9590 after I enabled crossfire with launch command. Will not let me add pic.

Is there a launch command for fullscreen, perchance?

Not sure what's up with the article's numbers for the GTX 980 but mine scores higher than that.

    Note: CPU clocked at 4.5GHz.

EDIT: GPU Power Target at 110%.

i believe it only comes at the one resolution, to balance the scores- if we were using different resolutions that would skew the results.

    probably.
