Aerocool Dream Box is a $150 DIY PC chassis construction kit

You could alternatively use the kit to build a 'wild boar' or a 'helicopter'.

Seems cool for people who like DIY stuff and not a bad price either

I like the idea, but I think the execution could do with a bit of a change. Mainly, sell the bits individually or at least in smaller kits to get the price down. For example, I made a mini-ITX case out of LEGO (build log is here somewhere), so if I was to use this, there would be a lot of unnecessary pieces.

That looks good shame they don't include side panels

Probably be cheaper to have a browse round the plumbing and hardware sections at B&Q.

Similar extruded sections and fittings for them are already available from other sources. If you want more options and don't mind some cutting that's the way to go. You'll need some metalworking for things like mobo tray and SSD mounts (if you want mounts other than velcro...), and the price will soon add up.

Hey! My Mini-itx is housed in an inverted George Foreman Grill cardboard box haha. Recycling it was actually pretty fun.

Looks like they have re-done the old kits they marketed as "lubic" in 2004 ?

I still have some of that, in nice anodized blue aluminium.. oh, and here's the "aeroplane" using lubic:

Cable management will be a complete pig of job.

No case panels to direct airflow or deaden noise.

I wonder if anyone's sold a decent quality motherboard tray on its own? I could see that being very useful for a lot of case projects, just like this but cheaper and you can use whatever frame material takes your fancy at B&Q.

I like it, but a single kit @$150 doesn't appeal. I would be interested in seeing some of the parts available separately to modify existing cases.
