The best weapons in COD2 were the bolt action rifles, before the series nosedived
If that's true, it may be the first Battlefield I buy!
Oh well, that's one game off my radar. Looks like BF4 may hang around quite some time.

I hope not, I am a long term BF player, love the series since BF1942 but WW1 is simply too restrictive in weapons and vehicles to fit the BF world. While I was not a fan of BF2142 that seemed to be the way most of the people I game with were hoping the next installment would go.
That being said, won't stop me giving it a go but I expect it could impact how long I play it for
Horses, tanks, bi-planes, submarines, landing craft, dreadnoughts, zeppelins, gas attacks, land-mines, sniper nests and the only machine guns are those at mounted static locations.... artillery, trenches and bunker complexes, dashes across no-mans land and sinking into muddy craters. It will change the way we play it, but there's enough in there to have some fun with - though hopefully not in way that trivialises what was a nasty experience for so many.
Early WWI was very open and fluid, with trenches getting dominant by the middle of the war, and then tanks etc and better tactics meaning trenches were breachable later in the war.
THATS NICE COZ when the going gets tough simply cheat-code an M16 rifle with some 100 bullets to spare setting at Auto not forgetting the bullet proof vest.
Well it should at least mean that not everyone will abandon BF4 post launch.
This could be really interested, As long as they can Update the Frostbite engine and its colour style. Look at the past Games like Dragon age & battlefield 4, The engine is poor in its colour style & textures.
just look at Skyrims that still looks better than Dragon age. So yeah hopefully they can give a little more power to the Frostbite engine and give Unreal 4 engine a run for its money. CS:go is still a massive game, maybe they want to get back into more competitive gameplay since big organisations are investing more in E-sports.
Someone is the gaming scene created a Big To-Do-List for Battlefield 4 & that really helped DICE, sadly it came out 10 months after the game. I hope they've learnt their lesson (Fat chance) about releasing a game before its ready. This dude highlighted about 135 issues, Which they even acknowledged & then promised to fix. In any case Do not pre-order it, Until you've played the heck out of the beta.

Didn't anyone play Codename Eagle - The grandfather of the battlefield franchise?

look at Verdun to see a good WW1 - cant wait tbh ; although BF2143 would have been nicer

If true, it's an interesting development to say the least.. I can imagine one of the modes being similar to Walker Assault in Battlefront but with WW1 tanks.
PS: the Mark 1 British Tank is a 100 years old as of last month and was built in Lincoln, UK!

I'm still playing BF3, this one I might have to get but with all games these days I wait till the reviews come out a form my own opinion.
I really can't imagine them going down the WW1 route... it just doesn't fit with the recent m/o
I reckon it will be it'll be part 2 of the BF4 story.... 40-50 years on from the events of BF4
I'd be happy with that if done right, and a decent single player campaign that lasts more than 10 hours minimum.
Rather have a BC3 flash back story set in Vietnam or similar
I still love playing BF3 too... split my time fairly evenly between BF3 and BF4
Looking at the prices, I'll be sticking to BF4 for a while yet.
I still have a bitter taste after buying SWBF, which while good was a bit of rip off imo
