So they've gradually been removing features from the front of the phone, while somehow retaining the massive chin and forehead? Hats off to HTC's engineers for that stunning achievement, let's see if the marketing team can save this one - my money's on no

Re: HTC 10 smartphone specifications and pictures published

Nothing compelling as far as I can see. Shame.

Samsung has arguably the best looking phone with waterproofing and micro SD and best in class camera (yes I know the reviews aren't in yet, but check the pictures).

LG has the modular nature, supposedly great in-hand feel and a new design, and dual camera for wide FOV photos (giving a faux zoom effect)

Xaiomi with the Mi 5 have a great screen size to width ratio, light weight, high spec, beautiful design and low price

Apart from a new design (which doesn't impress if I'm honest) what is HTC bringing to the table...presumably a price comparable to Samsung / LG, probably no micro SD or water proofing (based on previous designs). Screen is same size and res as the Xaomi Mi 5, so it'll be interesting to see the weight and width of the HTC 10, given Xaiomi managed to fit this into a 69.2mm width and 129g (with a 3000mAh battery to boot).

Anyone wanting to bet on the HTC camera being any good compared to LG / Sansumg's offerings...I doubt it based on previous efforts...

It will have a curved back, which ought to make it better in the hand than the rest of the phones mentioned (the one negative of my Nexus 6P), but apart from that...

It's a shame HTC has managed to gimp each of the M7, M8 and M9 in one way or another (usually the camera), as they promised so much and yet always managed to fall short in one area. Now they're ripping the heart out of the whole line.

I would agree in general but IMO, the M7 was (at the time) fantastic....even with the small pixel count, very few devices if any could match the pictures it produced.

I still have it to this day as I have been waiting for a worthy successor and only since the S6 have I started to be disappointed with the photos.

It looks...... like almost every other phone out there.

Seriously, I don't get the whole "looks" thing. It looks for all intents and purposes almost exactly like my S5.
Phones are once again getting bigger and bigger, but are now so thin and smooth I can barely hold them. I had to chuck mine in an Otter box just so I wouldn't drop it!

Specs are another matter of course.

Hmm, my memory says I was fighting the M7's its corner to a large degree before release, but then when the phone came out the camera didn't live up to the specs, to the point where an equivalent flagship phone with larger MP resized down to the 4MP M7 didn't look any worse and actually looked better in some scenarios, even in low-light.

I remember I was going to be all over the M7 and was a little disappointed so ultimately didn't hand over my hard earned. That's just my memory though and I could well be mistaken. Anyway the M7 was more rounded than the M8 (still good) and especially the M9.
