Even the $6,000 Mac Pro "doesn't match our recommended spec," laments Palmer Luckey.

Re: Oculus Mac will arrive "if they ever release a good computer"
nowadays APPLE has an issue of making user up-gradable MAC's. Maybe the next version of MacPRO will have a beefy Pascal or Polaris GPU.
Re: Oculus Mac will arrive "if they ever release a good computer"
Oh that headline has to sting a bit if you've spent £1000+ on a Mac recently!

Let me guess "VR isn't at all important" 6 months later "So, we decided to totally invent VR in the best way possible with some low tier tech that's been around ages".

Excellent. Totally blunt and totally true.
The main issue here is that there
isn't really a great deal of benefit to apple in supporting this market. The same reason they don't have top if the range gaming GPUs available is the same reason drivers aren't necessary. Apple users are not really gamers and most gamers are far too volatile and demanding for the business model apple has.
Perhaps if VR becomes more than gaming it will change.
Re: Oculus Mac will arrive "if they ever release a good computer"
Don't worry, I am sure Apple will invent VR someday

Re: Oculus Mac will arrive "if they ever release a good computer"
what is holding APPLE's money is the iPhone and iPad but unfortunately samsung/sony/Htc/Lumia is eating its market share like crazy don't be surprised soon to find Apple shifting down to low end spec MAC's to get cash.
Re: Oculus Mac will arrive "if they ever release a good computer"
Well its true if no apple computer has the required hardware why go through the effort of making it work.

Or Glasses-makers just need to make the glasses smart, so all the heavy number crunching happens in the glasses instead of the computer they are attatched to.

If you take a 32" shirt then you'll probably even be able to look up while wearing it!

AppleVR: A google cardboard made of hinged aluminium sheets, and it takes 2 apple watches instead of a smartphone. A steal at $200!

It will be 4 times the price of everyone else's,
Because it is apple, it will supposedly be better
And they try to sue everyone else who is using it

I would guess that just like Apple, the vast majority of PCs in the home are not used for gaming beyond very simple ones. We are such a niche that I would guess oculus will either go bankrupt or be picked up by someone especially when you consider how crowded this market will become shortly.
Can I also point out VR has been with us since atleast the 80s if not earlier. Yes Apple no doubt have/are working on a VR headset but they do not release everything they develop unlike many of their competitors.

You do know Oculus is owned by Facebook don't you, its impossible for them to go bust. They are selling the Rift at more or less cost without a problem.

And Lionhead is owned by Microsoft.... and Westwood studios was owned by EA.... Just because the parent company is loaded, doesn't mean the product/company is safe.
