One thing that isn't bound to change, however, is the necessity to buy UWP applications in the Windows/Xbox Store. I'm not a fan of that, but only time will truly tell, if that will be an issue. While games on Steam have a lot of discounts often the price will still be higher than boxed copies ...or at 3rd party key stores such as GMG, G2A etc. Talking of Steam and keys, I wonder if Microsoft will add the possibility of redeeming keys purchased elsewhere?
"An important enhancement headed to Windows 10 and Xbox One users via DirectX 12 is HDR support."
The xbone is only equipped with hdmi 1.4, so how will HDR be supported?
I've got too much traction with steam now (941 games and counting). It would take something exceptional for me to move now. I've tried other stores like GMG but always come back to steam. This just seems way to late for me.

They've tried to push their store for a while now if I'm not mistaken, let's see if exclusives will get it to take off.....my guess is they'll cave in eventually and let stuff onto other platforms.
Good news.
I don't like UWP & I hope it fails, but you already don't need to get them from Windows Store. They can be downloaded from any website that hosts/sells/develops them and installed without issue.
Of course, finding a site willing to cripple their storefront by selling UWPs may be a bit of a challenge.
I hope UWP for AAA games dies within the next 3 years, when developers realise that no one wants to buy from the Windows store and be locked in. Microsoft is completely un-trustyworthy from current and past actions. With Steam at least I know my money is better invested.
The point was that there are already games that have launched via UWP that are available via other means. So as of yet, Microsoft haven't imposed a "If you release on UWP, you cannot release via another content delivery systems' restriction.
As someone who has embraced the multiple download managers early (due to seeing the writing on the wall), I am considerably less open to embracing the Windows Store due to the restrictions being placed on developers......well that and how unbelievably shoddy and second-rate GWFL was.

Indeed, but my point was it's theoretically possible that the UWP version of the game could be different to the win32 version - perhaps making use of a different driver model for example. In that way, you could not get exactly the same version of the game through other means.
I will never buy anything from the windows store. In fact it was one of the first things I uninstalled from windows 10. All of my digital games are on Steam and any games that aren't are hard copies, not that I have bought any of those for the past couple of years.
Supposed to be a limited release of Forza 6:Apex to show off DX12/Store gaming.
