I didn't even know that quicktime was still around ! that and real player always used to annoy me immensely.

Is it still 1998?
Anyone who still has it installed should probably also remove WinZip, RealPlayer & Netscape Navigator while they're at it.

A few of my older CD's have Quicktime requirement for the video content, you can get Quicktime Alternative (also Realmedia Alternative) which is literally a codec for Windows Media Player if you are still wanting to use it.

WinZip can still split a package better than 7zip (5MB vs 10MB), thank you very much!
That said, WinZip has been living its lifetime.

I am surprised it is still around, always hated it and could never understand the need for installing it in the first place.
Re: Uninstall QuickTime for Windows now says US-CERT, Trend Micro
I need quicktime because ArchiCAD architectural software that all of you know about use it, I still wonder why they use it yet VLC can do an equally good job.
Re: Uninstall QuickTime for Windows now says US-CERT, Trend Micro
I've seen zero corroboration from Apple that they won't be updating Quick Time for Windows.

Ditto.
It's been years since i've encountered either 'in the wild' as it were. Even then, VLC played the last one i did find on an ancient website.

Re: Uninstall QuickTime for Windows now says US-CERT, Trend Micro
Wow, i was still installing this as part of my fresh windows installation method. Didn't even consider that it wasn't necessary any more!
Thanks Hexus! :hexlub:

Some of the Adobe CS6 software requires this to be installed, think it's premiere but could be encore or prelude. Annoying really as I've yet to understand why exactly they need it when the reason it is installed looks like it's covered by their own media encoder..

The CD version is ok but the floppy is out of date.

There was a dark time of the digital camera era where videos were stored in the MOV container. If you happen to import that into Adobe LightRoom, this software will remind you you need QuickTime installed to view it. Yep, happened to me last week when I was selecting a few old photos for an album.
