Curious about the Single player; asssuming the AI isnt completely useless, it would be worth a play. The multiplayer just hasnt done anything new, load outs, awards, earnt modules. Too much of a 'me too' attitude.
Bargain bucket buy imo.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Games have moved on since the days of Doom, they were simpler, and the fast paced run n shoot it offered back then was great..back then. But nowadays people want more from games.
I tried it, I thought it was meh, but at the same time I wasn't expecting anything like the old Doom or Quake games, if I wanna play those I go play those.
I dunno, I guess I just feel games can't be rebooted like movies, it just doesn't work the same.
because it is ####... nothing new... FAIL
Truth be told I couldn't even be ar**d downloading for the open beta.

The core gameplay seemed ok to me (I didn't feel it was slow as others have reported, but perhaps I'm getting old!), but universal ammo and being limited to just the 2 guns in your initial loadout is awful. Knowing where the guns, ammo and other pickups are is/was a huge part of Doom and Quake Multiplayer.
I've just watched a play session of the multiplayer and on the most part it could just be any other FPS game. I'm trying to find a term that describes just how middling it is for me. Yeah the spawn as a monster of your choice thing looks cool, but apart from that it's just another FPS, which is a shame.
I'm only really interested in the single player part, but if I am honest I don't hold out much hope for that either now.
True, Doom shouldn't have mouse-look at all, or in-game re-mappable movement keys. Arrows or joystick for you sir.
In my day we used to strafe by holding alt and we were thankful for it
It's DOOMed!!
The reviews (negative and positive) have disappeared off steam by the way. I imagine the publishers/developers argued that conclusions drawn from a beta multiplayer are not fair to the final product. Youtube reviewers like TotalBiscuit, have expressed reservations too though, coming to the conclusion it was "solidly OKish". He had a lot of slightly disappointing things to say.

Hopefully that would also mean they they're taking these comments on board. They will be in the same boat when it comes to the multiplayer side of the game if they don't. Lets face it, the multiplayer side of these games is what gives it it's longevity regardless of what the single player is like.
After watching a bit of gameplay from the beta, it doesn't seem to grab me. Was hoping it'd be better.
