Not even that they are just spitting dust back into your computer. Great...
How about just including a filter with all your fans? Or making the fans removable and easier to clean the normal way?
Re: Enermax D.F. Pressure fans use reverse thrust for dust busting
People reboot their system? That isn't very Linux friendly ;)
Re: Enermax D.F. Pressure fans use reverse thrust for dust busting
So a fan that can reduce the life of the components in your PC to allow itself to last longer? I think I'll pass on this one!

And thats going to make lots of noise for 10 seconds when you switch the PC on...

Its not just spitting the dust back into the pc, its shaking off the dust, to only have it sucked back into place 11 secs after booting up.
As with a lot of "new tech", this sounds great on paper, but in practice it just spreads the dust about and then sucks it back into place.
Bet the designer got a bonus in his wages for this one.....
Re: Enermax D.F. Pressure fans use reverse thrust for dust busting
Hasn't this sort of thing been done before, IIRC there was a graphics card that done the same thing?
Re: Enermax D.F. Pressure fans use reverse thrust for dust busting
As already mentioned, a fan that allows you to remove the actual rotating assembly relatively easy would be much more beneficial IMO. Countless time wasted hoking brushes and cleaning solution round blades after having removed the entire assembly.
it could be much easier

Re: Enermax D.F. Pressure fans use reverse thrust for dust busting
A brand new fan with a 10 second reverse startup is genius, it basically ensures it never gets dust on it, not "blowing dust into your pc." We're talking minimal amounts here.

Yep. MSI do it with their aftermarket twin fan coolers.
Re: Enermax D.F. Pressure fans use reverse thrust for dust busting
If it's on the front intakes that might be a good idea, not sure how well it'd work in practice.
Re: Enermax D.F. Pressure fans use reverse thrust for dust busting
Gotta test this one. I admit I am intrigued.

Thanks, I thought I was going crazy reading this article, thinking I'm sure I've read about this being done a fair while ago. I do indeed have an MSI GPU.
Re: Enermax D.F. Pressure fans use reverse thrust for dust busting
So how do exhaust fans work? Do they pump a load of dust into the case when you start your PC?
Re: Enermax D.F. Pressure fans use reverse thrust for dust busting
Meh. Barely any dust inside my case anyway - and I've got a dog :p
