Lol "great" american company that owes like $60 Bn in taxes.
Also in the asian market there are tons of non mainstream companies like xaoimi that make very good bank for buck phones and thats a big reason why iphone users there will continually decrease.
I doubt it Mr Cook. My £100 chinese (Xiaomi Redmi note 2 pro) imported android phone does everything well (apart from photos but they are ok. It even has 32Gb storage plus mSD). I can't see any reason why I'd drop £600 more for something I can't even install apps directly on.
Yes, price can "be King" so to speak. I had a quick look on amazon uk and you can get a MS Lumia 435 for under £48.
There's no denying iPhones are nice pieces of kit, but when the cheapest iPhone is around the £370 mark it's hardly surprising more iPhone users are deciding to hang on to their iPhones longer to get more use out of them.
oh noo, more Apple fangirls are coming.
I recently bought the Redmi Note 3 Pro for £150. And coming from a Galaxy Note 3, was still deeply impressed. The screen is crisp, and performance pleanty for most needs with the Snapdragon 650. It moves snappy, games run well and my goodness the battery life. The 4000mAh battery isn't just for show. I know different users get different amounts but even with browsing, texting, playing 3D games, having WiFi and 3G on, I still got 7+ hours screen on time with 14% battery left over.
I am also very impressed with the fingerprint scanner. It hasn't missed a single scan, even scanning upside down and sideways, even when I'm not completely over the scanner. I'd almost say it is as good as the Nexus 5x. As with most of these Chinese phones, the problem is still in the aftersales support and software updates. You could get around this by going after better brands or ones which are popular enough to get support on XDA.
Edit caveat: Camera still needs work. It still struggles with low light shots and the PDAF they advertise isn't as fast or responsive as you might expect but still miles ahead of the contrast autofocus in most phones which sometimes struggle to make up their minds and still give you a blurry shot. There is some weird noise in some daylight shots I've seen if you zoom in close but still easily good enough for sharing or regular snapping.
Otherwise, as cheesemp said, you can drop £600 for a phone now or get about 3-4 cycles of Chinese phones for the price and the way makers like Xiaomi, Huawei and Meizu are going, I'm more inclined towards the latter.
how did I live without the next iPhone... well it's quite simple I bought another phone from one of the plethora of other brands running android or windows mobile, and before that I used symbian.
I don't care about a fingerprint reader, especially since they can now use legal loopholes to force you to open it (not that it bothers me or that I'm in America). I have seen no reason for force touch as it seems to act pretty much like a long press on Android, clearly it's not that important as it's not in the SE either. So they're going to have to try really hard to get me to switch to a phone that in my view is severely overpriced.
Aah the Hexus love for Apple in all its glory...
This is clearly a move to try and bolster share price ahead of the announcement but I've asked before and I'll ask again. Just what can ANY phone manufacturer do that is revolutionary or at least never been done to some degree before?... Answers on a postcard people.
Great, I agree, and is anyone doing it? I imagine there is a reason.
Then the same rules apply to Samsung and Sony etc. I just get annoyed with unrealistic expectations, I'm glad to see other manufacturers being called out for the same more and more but Apple still get the brunt of it for some reason.
I don't see them being any better or worse than anyone else when it comes to most things.
I seriously doubt that. Wait, have they ditched iTunes?!The next iPhone will make you ask "how did I live without this?"
Still wouldn't buy one.
Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes; after that, who cares?! He's a mile away and you've got his shoes!
I think it's down to the marketing that Apple put out...whether they explicitly say it or not they foster an image to the effect that their products are on some mystical other-worldly scale, set apart from all the other pretenders. They also price their products with that in mind. That winds people up because if they're going to talk the talk their products had better be able to back them up.
Of course that doesn't mean Samsung et al wouldn't (or don't) try the same marketing tricks. It also doesn't mean Apple's products are worse. It's just an explanation for why they should be given a little less slack in some people's minds.
crossy (04-05-2016)
If I were to wonder that about any phone, I can only hope someone has the compassion to put me out of my misery before the men in white coats arrive to cart me off to a padded cell, as I will clearly have totally lost touch with reality. The next iPhone will make you ask "how did I live without this?"
Really, Mr Apple Man, you seriously need to get over yourself. It's a phone, for pity's sake, not a solution to world poverty.
