Where have they said that? Everything I've seen has said it's aimed for VR, where they're doing a warping trick to cast the same display from different angles, avoiding needing to fully render VR resolutions (in fact a lot of the features were based around not having to render full VR).

so you need them to say that for it to be justified!!!, ok then, they have never said that 970 GTX has segmented memory (they lied), they have never said you need 980 SLI or even 980 Ti SLI to play on 4k since they said 980 Ti is 4k card and is enough but they lied again, they have never said that G-Sync is just adaptive V-Sync over DisplayPort and its kind of DRM, oops lied again,........so you have it!!

however, 980 Ti is aimed for 4k which ended up a 1440p card, this one is faster than 980 Ti and also faster than 980 SLI which makes it a 4k card, according to marketing departments, they focus on the trends and new techs to spotlight it, last year it was the 4k thing, this year it is VR, it doesn't make sense to keep marketing the 4k thing every year, but i'm sure 4k will be listed somewhere in the specs.

Of course - we like to try and keep things factual on Hexus when discussing tech. If you think the card is well suited for 4k rather than VR then that's cool, but your wording (and this could just be a language thing) comes across like you are saying nVidia have aimed the card at 4k. I think they haven't, as I rationalised.

Evidence of them being misleading in the past isn't a great endorsement for much!

However, I disagree. I think their 4K card is coming later. This still doesn't have the oomph for 4k yet. They are saying it's aimed at VR which it seems a much better match for.
