Very cool idea. I'm extremely tempted to wait for these to come out before upgrading. Only thing I feel is missing (unless I've missed something in the article) are media controls and function keys [edit - and no numpad?].

This is something that has been a long time coming, and it's great to see it finally arrive from someone. Lack of precision in movement control on PC has been the main thing going for xb360 controllers and the like for years now, I'm frankly surprised it took so long for someone to cotton on. This still leaves isn't the perfect solution, as your thumbstick is still going to have better directional control unless you can very accurately pressure 2 of the keys yourself, but it's a great step in the right direction.

Next step is individual key force-feedback.. though that would probably weigh a ton.

I've always preferred pushing a stick around over keyboard when driving but this might make the difference.. maybe

I mostly do multiplayer FPSs, so I'm not too sure how often I'd use this. But I would need to know it had anti-ghosting working on it, which I don't think they mention at all.

Looked at this and thought I might sign up, until I noticed the missing NUMPAD ... oh well ... next!

I dont think it would ever replace a dedicated peripheral for driving games BUT think about open world games where you sometimes drive motorbikes, cars, tanks, helicopters, planes then othertimes you're on foot... this is a revolutionary improvement for this kind of thing.

I thought this at first, but they had an example in the video where the guy slowly crept out from a corner to snipe, this could be awesome once you're used to it.

The IC is depicted as having NKRO.

This is literally the only gaming scenario that I would find something like this useful - moving at different speeds in an FPS depending on how hard you press the key, rather than toggling walk/run or holding to sprint.

It's because controllers are a thing...

Re: Wooting One mechanical analogue keyboard funded

I think it could have some interesting new applications, soft press a weapons change key to preview what weapon you're changing to, Control how hard you throw grenades, soft press to crouch or hard press to toggle crouch etc

It could have applications outside of games too, i imagine an element of control like this could be useful to someone producing music/videos

I think possibly the biggest problem with this idea is how much control people are actually able to exert on the keys, how difficult would it actually be to apply the pressure you need to etc

Good that they went for the useful layout first - tenkeyless - best for gaming with a mouse.

I like the idea a lot. Are all the keys analogue, or just WASDQE_? €139 is a pretty reasonable price for an RGB LED tenkeyless mechanical keyboard in the first place.

Ye this is the real problem, thumbsticks are still going to be easier to judge than say pressure on a key. Its the sort of thing you can probably learn to adapt to, but a degree less clarity involved in just how far youre pressing down. I know on my MX Red keyboard for example that occassionally i just barely accidentally tap a key and it triggers, so doesnt necessarily correspond to how deep the key is pressed. One can assume though that for what is currently an "On" press, where this functionality was enabled such as for movement keys, you would probably have to bottom out the keys.

Also agree with the earlier sentiment. No interest in this particular model because of it not having a numpad, which is crucial to my usual keybindings, but with any luck other companies will follow suit.

I was on the mail list and was so close to snagging an early bird. I'm torn between getting one now and being an early adopter, and waiting for the tech to mature. But chances are this keyboard will be 199+ USD if it follows the current KS trends.
