QOTW: How fast do you need the AMD Radeon RX 480 to be?

I want one of these coupled with a Graphics Dock and decently priced i5 laptop. Thats the next setup I'm going to go for, probably wont build another full gaming desktop.

Another good win for AMD as far as reputation goes but Apple flip flop between Nvidia and AMD for GPUs a lot. I suspect they won based on cost per unit more than any other factor.

If only Apple would use some of the lower end AMD APUs in the "lower end" Macbooks, that would have the potential for really shaking things up.

It seems they are going a different route.....they are going to place powerful GPUs in their high-end monitors instead, keeping the laptops as slim and light as possible.

Not a bad idea TBH.

So the monitor also acts as a GPU dock? VERY interesting idea.

Being Apple, my cynical side would say the GPU will not be upgradable......will make a nice trade in monitors for them!

Oh yeah without a doubt that will be the case. I wonder if it will be compatible with older macbooks as long as they support TB2?

Could be a whole new approach to building a gaming PC though - someone should absolutely do a monitor with an upgradeable GPU slot. Wonder if there'd be scope to use an MXM-type mobile form factor and have the outputs built in... 1080p Freesync monitor with Polaris 11 GPU included, anyone?
