A decent(non ref) 980Ti will OC to perform better than the OC'd 1070 when gaming. When using Cuda enabled apps the 980Ti should leave the 1070 in the dust.
People appear to have lost the ability to understand what bench marks show these days.

Nah your grand on the front seat modding and points taken. I just didn't see much wrong with what that other guy said really, he had a fair point, just expressed it not so eloquently I guess. I just didn't see the need to jump all over him, ignore and move on but it's fine, no worries.
It's definitely a fine line; in this case Irien's post was well-phrased to indicate they were expressing their opinion on rumour (as Jowsey highlighted), so a flat "you don't know what you're talking about" was both uncalled for (Irien was expressing an opinion, not stating a fact) and rude. Add to that the lack of constructive addition to the discussion (i.e. this wasn't a "you're wrong, because <additional information>", it was a just a "you're wrong because I say so"), and I think CoolStoryBro deserved pulling up for it.
I'm sure on other forums people would've just ignored it, but I like the example that gets set at Hexus - just ignoring posts like that give them some legitimacy; it implies that nobody minds you being rude and non-constructive. Given how much of the internet is already like that, having a little corner where people expect you to be respectful and point out if you're not is rather nice!

To add, I don't think either of the responses were jumping all over him. They were both polite comments, Jowsey's was especially welcoming, and both posts I think rationally contributed to the discussion and were aimed at increasing and improving the poster's involvement in Hexus, not reducing it.
perhaps AMD's upcoming RX 480 can force Nvidia's value hand further.
"Nvidia's value hand".... LOL!
It has everything to do with the upcoming AMD releases...! Shill reporting again Hex... I love it!
I want to be clear I'm not jumping on you and think you've got every right to express an opinion.. but.. harsh comment! I'm happy to take Hexus to task for poor choice of benchmarks or whatever, but that's a world away from being a shill, and tying a shill accusation to a possibly correct use of phrase is especially harsh. I take forcing value hand to mean nVidia will have to consider value more than they were doing before - we've already seen a response with the 900 series price cuts, which can't have been caused by the 1000 series release since they were priced in a different market segment.
shill: a select few on the Hex forums also... readers beware.
I guess we'll never know since unlike some others Hexus don't seem to have a policy about declaring company provided products (employees cannot pretend to be users any more under law at least). But sometimes it's hard to tell a shill apart from someone who's just extremely enthusiastic about 'their team'. Either person is usually defeated with the logical arguments/facts that Hexus readers employ however. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to reading more about the 480.
Hexus release a Nvidia article: "Hexus are green team biased!"
Hexus release an AMD article: "Hexus are shills!"
There was a review comparing OC'd 980Tis and 1070s and they ended up having very similar results with the only notable exception being The Division at 4K. The 10xx series drivers are also new so there will be improvement over the upcoming months and the 1070 will take the lead. Even if that didn't happen the 1070 still offers a massive improvement in power usage at ~100w less under load.
Another review showed an 11% drop compared to the 980Ti in CUDA apps so you'd be right there.
"an MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti Gaming Golden Edition is listed at Newegg for $369.99"
...
"a well-overclocked EVGA GTX 980 Ti is on offer for £389.99 at Scan"
Currency conversion, how does it work?
Shipping doesn't really come into it considering those GPUs aren't being manufactured in the US, therefore their prices shouldn't/wouldn't be lower for that reason.
VAT brings us up to £302. We're still off by nearly £90, roughly 1/4 of the entire price.
