Surprised at the 980 disappearing as rumour has it that that is the one that gives RX480 a run for its money. Perhaps it can't be price-slashed enough to be worthwile based on potential RX480 pricing.
Either way, it seems like there's going to be a lot of performance available for some more realistic pricing in the next few weeks, whether you prefer Team Green or Team Red.
SLI 980Tis is staring to look like a tempting and affordable proposition now...
I think the 980 Ti would need to be sub £350 to make sense now, given a 1070 can be bought for £380, and they're both on a level performance wise except the 1070 is better geared to VR and lower power consumption.

Noted on Monday and already picked up my 2nd for SLI goodness. Should last me until some proper 'next gen' 4k capable cards with HBM memory from Nvidia come through.
Could you phrase that a bit more respectfully on these forums? The opinion expressed is quite in line with those expressed by many on these forums based on the performance hints so far. These forums exist in part so that we can talk about products that aren't released yet. Waiting until release before commenting would kill off a lot of fun.
Hi CoolStoryBro,
Thanks for taking the time to comment!
I've highlighted a select few words and phrases in Irien's statement to indicated that they were not stating fact, and they were simply discussing in approximations. The rumours at current agree with Irien's statement so unless you have something that says otherwise...?
Additionally, I like to think that this board is a really pleasant and mature place to discuss the latest tech (and other things), so I'm sure everything will go smoothly if we all address each other with the respect and courtesy we expect in return.
Lot of white knighting and backseat modding going on here, have you all had a bad day on reddit or something ?
No, people are just trying to keep Hexus the polite and decent community it is...posts like CoolStoryBro's do nothing other than stir up trouble
Back on topic....If the prices drop further, a second 970 may be tempting...(assuming my motherboard supports it that is...)
If that meant I could buy one in the UK for ~ £270 (which is what $370 converts to at the current exchange rate), then yes it'd be a very easy decision.Quote:

Sadly it seems that, as always, the exchange rate with this kind of kit remains at $1 = £1.
Everyone always forgets US Sales Tax, if it applies in the state, and VAT here. The absolute cheapest such a card could be here is £320 or so ($370/1.4*1.2)
Erm, not just Nvidia? How about an R9 390 for £215

Edit: that's about a third off.
Another edit: So if you believe the rumours of the 480 having over 390 performance and around this price for the 8GB variant, if you don't care about the power consumption you can upgrade now with this.
If you'd prefer some front seat modding, I'd be happy to comply... :naughty:
One reason why you don't see a lot of active modding on hexus is because the community is very good at self moderating. There's an ethos and atmosphere that the regular community users buy in to, and seek to maintain. They tend to do that in a polite and clear way that matches the ethos they are seeking to promote. And it makes life easier for the formal moderators (red names) and admins (orange names), as most potentially problematic threads get pulled back on track by normal community members without our input.
As a moderation team we're happy that our regular membership feel empowered to point out the standards we expect, and it enables us to keep a light touch with formal moderation. If you'd prefer forums with heavy-handed formal moderation and no user empowerment, I'm sure those exist; however Hexus is not one of them.
