What is the range ? How close do you have to be to the TV ?

So in order for me to be 'safe' from mosquitoes I have to have my TV on 24 hours a day, but what if I don't have electricity or the money to pay for it? I haven't heard of any decent reviews of the 'technology', and the electronic mosquito thing that I bought was a waste of time.
They will have missed a trick if they haven't kitted out the athlete's village in Brazil with these things.
