Google Chrome browser gets Cast integration

But you can continue to use the extension for toolbar button based casting.

Perhaps more intuitively you can alternatively right-click the tab you want to cast and then select 'Cast' from the resultant pop-up menu.
I'm on the dev channel and on my v53 (Windows) there is certainly no "cast" option when I right-click on a tab. It is there if I right-click on a blank area of a page (and is of course in the now-vertical hamburger menu), but it's not on any of my tabs.

I've just updated to the latest v51 and no Cast option for me.

I think you have to go into chrome://flags and enable "media router".

That did it, thanks - it was set to Default. They don't really want this feature being used by the vast majority of the user base then? Most people don't even know of the flags' existence; I'd forgotten about them and I'm a developer (albeit mostly a server side one). There's no mention of it in the linked Chromecast help page, so you would think they'd have it set to enabled by default in the update.

It's enabled in the dev channel automatically - no need to set flags - so it will almost certainly be enabled in stable release at some point soon.

Good to know - seems odd that Hexus are making a story about it when it's one or two major versions away from being accessible to the general populace.

Just reporting the news when they hear it

Also, it is accessible to the general populace, as I'm very sure you just have to click this_is_gav's link and download one of them. Or, optionally, activate it using the flags.
