Looking forward to this. We're building a robot so we can apply for the next season at the moment (just missed out on the cut off for this one :( ) so I am curious to see what we would have been up against!
Looking forward to seeing this, but I was hoping for Craig Charles and Philippa Forrester to be the host and backstage interviewer respectively, for old times' sake.
Should be some good light hearted fun, hopefully will catch a few :)
Definitely looking forward to this! I used to be addicted to this as a teenager
Now all we need is Gladiators to make a return and to be able to get up at 6am like we did as kids then lounge around a duvet :D
I honestly never understood the appeal in MMA, but this kind of thing, I can watch for a looong time. It certainly has its charm!
Also, despite the lack of a mention in the article and video itself, I hope Sgt. Bash is back as a House Robot too. I can't say that I'm bothered by the lack of mentions for Mr. Psycho or Growler, I never liked those robots.
As for the tease of a robot from the original series' competing, I'm thinking Chaos 2, Razer or Behemoth.
I was always impressed by Razer, there were very few that dealt out massive damage, but if that thing got hold of you, pretty much game over.
Really looking forward to the reboot, I see clips of the American versions occasionally but they don't seem to have the charm of the British version. Hopefully the new house robots aren't too powerful, was always fun watching the contestants try and take them on (sometimes with a fair chance of winning).
Did Jeremy Clarkson not present the original before Craig Charles took over, or is my mind playing tricks again?
Looking forward to this. Razer was always good but I remember when Hypno-disc first appeared and took quite a few robots apart.
If its a robot from the distant past maybe Beast of Bodmin or Cassius, IMHO the greatest bot not to have won it due to some dodgy driving but I still remember going mad the first time Cassius flipped itself back over to be the right way up. Truly a historic moment!
Possibly they're being a bit cautious of the flamethrower-equipped house robots until they've seen what the modern competitors are capable of? Who knows what modern batteries/materials will allow in terms of breaking things apart and lobbing them out of the arena... :clapping:
It seems there is a list of robots taking part; several familiar names on there. :)
