Re: Nintendo Classic Mini NES with 30-built-in games is launched

Loving this as I am into the 8Bit era big time and never really experienced the NES with being a C64 owner.

This is launching on 30th November this year and from what I have read they have done a $-£ so we will be looking at £60 at launch, still pretty cool though as it works out at a mere £2 per game which is a lot cheaper than buying all those on the Virtual Console on WiiU & 3DS

My wife has already said that I can have one for Christmas this year with the extra controller

Re: Nintendo Classic Mini NES with 30-built-in games is launched

I've got one pre-ordered Its £60 at Amazon right now but fully expect that to drop to £50 which is what other retailers are selling it at in time for the launch.

Yes all of these can be played on an emulator, or on a wii, or whatever..but I still want one of these. Fully expect them to launch a Snes version in the future - maybe even an N64 one too.

By "launched" do you really mean "announced"? As its not available yet...

Would love an N64 one as long as you could use the original controllers with it (IMHO still the best console controller ever made, was so comfy to use), hooking up my N64 that i still use to a HDTV via RF or scart looks god aweful but still love the gameplay of Super Smash, Mario Kart 64 and Micro Machines 64.

Yeah I just wish they'd done this for the 16 bit / 32 bit era as well....maybe they will if it's a success. Games are little too basic for me in 8 bit...get to the SNES and you have things like Mario Kart / F-Zero / Street Fighter 2 / Starfox...need this to happen so I can hook it up to my 110" projector for some sofa 4 player mario kart action - 55" screen each

Quite, I could get a lot more interested in a tiny Amiga or Atari ST.

Re: Nintendo Classic Mini NES with 30-built-in games is launched

Nice cute device, 30 games for £2 each is good considering they're mostly classics that cost a lot more as originals these days.

I'm guessing the device is merely an emulator in a pretty case, but at least it is an official product. Some people are suggesting it's a cut down mini Wii with Virtual Console apps pre-installed, but that's because of the controller port.

DanceswithUnix - have you considered the MiST?

Still have my Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It still works as on day one. Pity those controllers won't fit on this new console. They were the best.

No, I honestly didn't know such a thing was so advanced!

Kind of tempted. Partly to play with the existing clones, and partly because there doesn't seem to be a Dragon64 clone on there yet which is clearly an oversight

Edit to add: Writing a 6809 might be in interesting first attempt for a novice to vhdl, but I have plenty of people at work I can ask questions of.

I'd have preferred a mini SNES and the ability to load my own roms, the NES colour pallet was always slightly off putting for me.

It makes me wonder if the 16/32bit Amigas might get the same treatment some point. A mini Amiga 600 with a HDMI interface would send me back to my computer gaming roots in the early '90s.
