And they said it couldn't be done...

Well, actually they probably never quite did say it couldn't be done, but MS *did* try to use Win10 as a dongle for the game. Apparently, that backfired a bit.

True however mediocre reviews didn't help either! Still far more tempting to buy on steam when its cheap than touching Windows store!

Amazing how they went back to support Windows 7 and 8. So much for all the hoopla about Windows 10...

I suppose there's no point them being stubborn about it. They tried a tactic, it didn't work so they adapt - makes sense.

    Maybe we'll get GOW next

Thank god they are doing this. Every game just needs to be on steam so we have 1 game library. Who actually buys game from the Windows Store? hehe

Re: Quantum Break coming to Steam, Windows 7 and 8, on 14th Sept

Basically the game was always developed to support older OS's giving them the option to toy with the consumer but protect themselves should it backfire. Something we're going to definitely see time and time again from M$.

Remedy isn't owned by Microsoft so more than likely they just negotiated a timed exclusive, something we'll probably not see with games published from studios wholly owned by Microsoft.

Re: Quantum Break coming to Steam, Windows 7 and 8, on 14th Sept

If they can under cut the price of Steam games by a significant amount, I'm sure people will give the Windows Store a stab. But otherwise, I can't see why anybody buy things on Windows Store.

That's about it for me, I have the odd title on Origin or Uplay (mainly free games I've got with hardware) but I haven't even installed one of those since reinstalling win 10 (months ago) as my steam library holds 90%+ of the titles I own.

I don't want to have yet another ecosystem with the odd title floating around in it as it'll be forgotten.

For all its flaws, Steam is great for keeping things together, keeping them up to date and allowing me to easily play online with others. And one of the better features is I can buy keys cheaply elsewhere and just redeem them in steam.

It's very easy for them to do (with their own games) as they don't gave to pay Valve their cut, but they won't do this.

Even at lower prices they'll struggle to lure many people from Steam

Re: Quantum Break coming to Steam, Windows 7 and 8, on 14th Sept

The Win 10 version has the restrictions that were imposed by UWP, one of which was to do with exclusive fullscreen, which effectively broke multi GPU. I wonder if now its coming to steam/W7 that it can be run in its full glory. I picked up a PC code but it just didn't run as well as I wanted on my 7970 CF setup so ended up getting it on XB1. I wouldn't mind getting it on Steam if it was able to run 'properly'. I really liked it.
