Usually sell them on, especially with the top end components
I store them being a computer horder lol... anyhow I still got my SoundBlaster AWE 32 somewhere my first 90MB hard drive and more hehe.. for the newer stuff I still use it for other purposes.
either sell them or give them away :-)
I usually stored them to repair other peoples computers. Sadly space has become and issue and quite a lot of old tech recently went to the tip. Hard drives is usually deal with separately and smash them up. Good stress relief if nothing else!
Sell or give away.
I've either passed them down to family members, or sold them on OCAU or Ebay.
passed down in the family, until they break, then its out with the recycled stuff.
Sell, give away, stash, or throw away. Depends on the component really. If I can get enough from selling it to be worth the effort I'll sell, otherwise if I really couldn't see myself using it again I'll give it away, otherwise I'll stash it until it becomes useful, and when it becomes useless I throw it away.
I tend to hold on to everything from my old build in case the new build has a problem. That generally means I only get rid of stuff once it is at least ten years old, so I just take it all to the recycling centre (dump/tip) under the assumption that the hassle to try and a buyer for it all outweighs any monetary gain.
Usually pass them on to someone in need.
Sell it(or give it away) to friends, especially video cards. I've got a 2500K sitting in its package that I can't even give away to my friends, because you cant find a reasonably priced new P/Z68 or Z77 board anymore to go with it.
When I throw away food people always tell me that kids in Africa could have eaten that. So I send my old hardware there.
You might find that to be a bit dark for a joke, but that's what's actually happening with lots of old hardware that is thrown away in first world countries.
I have a trickle down approach. As components are replaced on my main machine, the cast offs are used to create new machines or upgrade other older machines. I may also give them away.
like most sell or give away. I do keeps some parts as spares and actually keep a dewalt box full of screws, cables, an so on.
Depending on on how old the parts are, I will either sell them or give them to a friend. Some parts I hold on to use in my HTPC.
