USB 3.0 == USB 3.1 Rev. 1 (5 Gbps).
HP missed a marketing trick there on the box. I assume USB 3.1 Rev. 2 will come with Zen, although I'm surprised that it's not on the new chipset that you can see on the board.
It's a consumer home PC, I don't think most people who'd buy that machine would know the difference between the USB revisions, let alone require a 10Gb/s peripheral connection!
But I agree on 3.1 gen 1 vs 3.0. Bigger USBs equals more better.
The board in this machine seems to be the A320 chipset. I'm sure HP will offer the A350 and A370 chipsets too.
There is a typo, at specification there is " 2xUSB 3.0 and 2xUSB 3.0" i think it should be 2xUSB 3.0 aqnd 2xUSB 2.0
This looks impressive considering the clock speeds on offer and the HP machine costs around £460.
The overclock was done on the higher end stock heatsink too!!
Aren't US prices pre-tax? $599.99 would come out at £554 over here although since the Brexit vote even the old 1:1 conversion we all complained about might be optimistic.Quote:

Heck.. I could OC my old i7-2600k to 5.4GHz no problem. It wouldn't be stable and the temps would be insane, but hey.. it's enough to show off with a CPU-Z screenshot without any benchmarks or actual indication of real world performance or even just showing the temperature its running at ... which is coincidentally just what that guy did :p

You can't take many (and very few recent) Intel chips up to 4.8ghz with a stock cooler and most can't hit 4.5ghz, even with custom water cooling. My 2500k will do 5.6Ghz but not a chance will it run that with a stock cooler or at 1.35 volts. My Skylake chip is miles behind.
It is on the chipset - even the entry level A320 chipset supports 1 USB 3.1 Gen 2, and the B350/X370 chipsets both support two. HP simply haven't bothered implementing it, presumabl;y for cost-saving purposes...Quote:
