OLED? Now that's interesting.
Re: Alienware 13 laptop updated with H-class CPUs and Pascal GPUs
Is the trackpad really that colour, or is it a mask their photoshop gimp has left in?

1366x768 on a laptop of this calibre. It. Will. Not. Die.

really that color, although you can change it

Note the '1/8" Port' is a quaint approximation for 3.5 mm jacks (terminology the majority of the world has been using for decades).
Re: Alienware 13 laptop updated with H-class CPUs and Pascal GPUs
Noticed if you select the $1499.00 option, which comes with 16Gb DDR4 2133Mhz by default, it can be "customised" to 2400Mhz RAM at no additional charge...might as well do it if you were going to order (check if same applies when it's on the UK site?)
Re: Alienware 13 laptop updated with H-class CPUs and Pascal GPUs
What's awesome about this generation of graphics is there's really only two graphics cards in the world that will increase your performance in a graphics amplifier for this laptop...
Re: Alienware 13 laptop updated with H-class CPUs and Pascal GPUs
According to a few Youtube vids the A15 gets HOT! Very, very hot. Best to wait awhile to see how the bios updates appear to fix things.
Re: Alienware 13 laptop updated with H-class CPUs and Pascal GPUs
Screen is a bit low res but its only 13" TBH. But a slightly downclocked GTX1060 6GB at 768P,will probably run most games fine for a few years.
I so want this laptop! :(
Edit!!
Its faster than my desktop!!

The only screen on this laptop worth getting is the 1440p OLED one. If you get anything else, you\'re wrong.

1. I wonder when this hits the UK.
2. I hope it has a UK keyboard (double hight enter/return key, and the " @ symbols in the right place.
3. Dell UK tax!!!
4. WHEN!

I like the higher end options since they should be better for image editing but main issue is if they are glossy or not.
As long as it is a reasonable quality TN screen, its not such an issue IMHO due to the screen size.
Also, people need to realise its a 13" screen - a 1080P screen is double the number of pixels for the graphics card to push.
To put it in context a GTX1080 is only 60% faster than a GTX1060 6GB at 1080P:

So when you have a slightly downclocked GTX1060 6GB at 1368X768,it means it can run most games at decent settings very well.
Unless you hit a CPU bottleneck, you will be running games better on a 1368X768 screen with a GTX1060 than somebody with a GTX1080 and a 1920X1080 screen.
I mean I have a 25" screen in front of me now and it "only" is 2560X1440.
That is slightly lower DPI than the 13" TN panel in the Dell.

Nope. I agree in terms of resolution and image quality, but given that all OLED panels are wide-gamut panels, Windows lacks any form of colour management, and I'm willing to bet Alienware doesn't do individual panel calibration - in other words, colours will look garish at best (think 2012-era Samsung Galaxy). Not to mention that burn-in is a SERIOUS issue, especially in windows with persistent taskbar icons and symbols. Do you feel like moving your taskbar to another edge of the screen every two hours for the lifetime of your laptop? Didn't think so.
The 1080p IPS seems the best choice for this laptop, by far.
Then again, this is overpriced, far too heavy and has a too small battery when compared to the Gigabyte Aero 14. 700g lighter, 92WH battery and quad core i7 + 2560*1440 IPS display as standard? For ~the same price? Yes please.
Re: Alienware 13 laptop updated with H-class CPUs and Pascal GPUs
that's a fearsome lappy!!

There are lots of options. Plenty of different calibrator tools too.
Some applications override them if they are badly programmed mind.
