But is it too little too late or is it just enough to start scabbing the wounds of the early hype train?
I like the idea of the base building, if we can use them to store valuable resources for trading, if it can be expanded and upgraded quite deeply, and if this is developed more in the future where we will be able to defend said bases from attack by building defenses etc. - I may just re-visit this game and start again. It could turn this game right around into something genuinely fun and rewarding to play if done the right way! (It now depends how heavily they will market the updated version of the game, and whether enough people will be willing to give it another chance after how bad the fallout from the initial release was)
I guess we're talking about uninhabited planets?Originally Posted by Article
EDIT: Just checked the NMS page and it *does* say "base". How odd...
Slightly OT, did anyone pick up NMS in the Steam Autumn Sale?
It's a good improvement, at least it's made me spend a few more hours in game whereas I had got bored of it before. Inventory management is still a passion though.
No - I've bought several in the past and keep getting Ben there, Dan that or similar (I've got about 4 copies!). Ended up with CHAINSAW WARRIOR LORDS OF THE NIGHT this time... £20 was probably a little steep for me too but figured it wouldn't drop much more in the short term if they keep patching it... Been very keen to encourage the new wave of space games coming anyway - I've now got Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen/SQ42, Infinity: Battlescape and now No Mans Sky.
Edit: And Rebel Galaxy!
My copy is now a dogs toy, the game just wasn't gripping enough for me and I think I only spent about 10 hours playing it.
It would have to be one hell of a patch to make me even try it again and I don't think you can make a purse out of a sow's ear.
The ASA has decided that No Man's Sky advertising (via screenshots and videos on Steam) didn't misrepresent the game.
Had a quick go last night. Fair enough introduce new modes and fix bugs, but they've messed around with the fundamentals of the base game - rather peeved. Resources needed to recharge things have been changed, I can no longer mine titanium with my normal laser. Being able to scan a planet for which resources are available is nice, but after landing I promptly forgot - how do I see the information again? Checked the planetary info page where you can upload information (sensible place), no-where to be seen. Unless I'm missing something the only way to find it out is above the atmosphere looking down Hopefully they can actually polish and finish off the bug-fixes and enhancements without getting too carried away adding half finished functionality. I'm not sure whether to just park the game for a while until it settles down or carry on - maybe a couple more hours will see whether I'm still enjoying it.
Has anyone got a farm yet? Not sure how to get it, my base is in my freighter and I can't see how to expand its capacity (I thought you could?) or how to farm.
I'm doing farming of another type right now ,found a space station where traders are selling dynamic resonators for 30k and then I'm selling them at the terminal for 55k
I bought the first freighter I saw which was 7milljon for a 13 slotter, next system I went to had what I can only describe as an Imperial Star Destroyer which was absolutely humongous!

Not into farming yet, was in the process of trading up ships when the update hit and I've yet to bother with a working hyperdrive. Need to get out of the system I'm in to find a weapons engineer and a farmer. Got a planet base on a 'habitable plant', seems like the least habitable one in the system but hey, I can pack it up and move elsewhere.
Not ventured near a freighter yet since I got stuck in one and had to reload, another patch has come out so maybe they've fixed that one?
