They look heavier than they could be. Couldn't you just have a gaming laptop without the screen and keyboard part?

I hope we get a backpack "case", I'd love to build one of these.

And with a 6kg battery that might even last a few hours

What an awesomely terrible idea! Screw developing a fast wireless link between headset, tracking and PC. Just strap the PC to your back! Optional accessory - a screen for others to watch you play, which you strap to your groin.

Re: Backpack PCs become a trend with HP and MSI joining the fray

Despite the venting advantages touted by it, a case would still end up being needed at some point though. After all, you can't rely on there being good weather if you want to go somewhere with it.

Plus you'll still need a screen and the peripherals anyway, so I'd expect most would decide a laptop is much less hassle. Also, it would probably get uncomfortable quickly anyway, so you wouldn't want to be sitting in a chair with it still on your back.

EDIT: Oh, I skimmed it and missed the VR mentions. I'm still not convinced about VR anyway though, so I still don't think this will really take off.
