I see the marketroids have gotten to the naming system.
Intel high end chipset = Z270
AMD high end chipset = X370
Therefore, AMD better because higher number!
Is that cpu mounting bracket the same as AM3+? It looks it to me but I can't tell if the size/spacing is exactly the same. I am basically wondering if the likes of the corsair AIO coolers can simply be tightened onto that plastic mount as we could with AM3+?
I'm pretty sure I read something about them maintaining cooler compatibility with the retention clips, although the hole spacing may have changed so bolt-through type coolers might not be compatible. That said if there's one thing AMD have been amazingly good at recently it's maintaining cooler compatibility: they've had the same retention clip design since the s939/754 days, and the same through-board hole spacing since AM2...

be quiet! is giving away free AM4 upgrade kits for its:
Dark Rock Pro 3
Dark Rock 3
Dark Rock TF
Shadow Rock 2
Shadow Rock Slim
Silent Loop series
So up to now it looks like coolers that use clips such as the corsair H60 will go right onto it as before, but something similar to the stock AM3+ wraith cooler and the be quiet! ones mentioned above, will need a different bolt providing one is available.
Thanks guys, it is definitely an important issue for those who have recently invested in (and don't want to have to replace) high end coolers that are predominantly designed for the previous gen!
I guess there's still no word on ECC capability?
