I'm no longer excited about HL3, haven't been for a long time, but a new Portal game would be most welcome.

Good god he's alive! Thought he might have keeled over after the SteamOS launch, or lack of.
Never been bothered by another HL. HL2 didn't do it for me.

IMO Valve have fallen asleep at the wheel in all areas, perhaps M$ will poach quite a few players after all. Source 2 is the most interesting, but we knew this in 2015 so its recycled news.

He said that the number 3 doesn't exist

It'll be worth the weight though. Worth the weight, Coral. WORTH THE WEIGHT.

Re: Valve developing at least one single player video game

A VR Half Life game isn't very appealing considering the fact that free movement FPS games don't work well in VR unless your happy getting sick.

So meh, Half Life is old now and those who still care about it are old too (me included), whatever Valve make will be forgotten quickly once the nostalgia wears off.

Re: Valve developing at least one single player video game

I believe most likely HL3 will be in VR, it simply has to be to dodge the flop because of the massive expectations and hype it has. If you look at the difference from HL1 to HL2; the graphics was the main factor and a massive leap. From HL2 to HL3 upping the graphics might not be enough, for example look at these screenshots:

    HL1 - http://img.gamefaqs.net/screens/e/0/4/gfs_52700_2_1.jpg
    HL1 - https://www.unseen64.net/wp-content/...1_halflife.jpg

    HL2 - http://webnv.net/wp-content/uploads/...atic-mod-1.jpg
    HL2 - http://abload.de/img/hl22013-08-0521-50-54psbgu.png

Waiting so long (almost double the years), from HL2 graphics to current latest technologies, would it be worth it? Increasing the pixel count, antialiasing, dynamic hair, cloth, full destruction, etc, I still do not see a massive leap compared to how big of a difference HL2 was to HL1. You could even argue the gaming industry just simply hasn't advanced fast enough.. Now if they do all the above in improving graphics and also using VR it will be the game changer and impossible to flop, the same way HL2 was hard to flop too, because it looked so great.

Re: Valve developing at least one single player video game

No way I'm spending hundreds more pounds on top of my graphics card to play a game. VR is still a long way off for me.

Stunned to hear that Valve still know how to make games, it's been so long.

The whole Half-Life 3 thing has gone on too long. I'm not sure they could produce anything that would satisfy the hype. Also isn't a bit late? Half-life came out in 1998 - almost twenty years ago. Surely by now it classes as a reboot and not a sequel. I can't imagine kids today will have any patience to play the original - or understand why it was so critical at the time.

may i direct your attention to black mesa,a re-re-boot (after half-life source}. it started off being a fan-made mod and is now a commercial release(on steam).
the modding community is still going strong and half-life one of, if not the, most modded game.
all done by, relative to me anyway, kids.
check out moddb, a repository of user-generated content for all your fave games, bods there do have the patience to play h-l, but not the patience to wait for stuff like h-l 3.
    they make it themselves.

I've played BlackMesa and it's great. Still, I reckon it'll be a niche game more for the nostalgic than new comers.
