Re: Unleashing the full potential of the Radeon RX 460

AMD certainly does have to address the Pentium G4560, maybe a 4 core Ryzen chip will compete at the insane $65 price point?

Some interesting benchmarks on wccftech: http://wccftech.com/intel-pentium-g4...et-cpu-65-usd/

It's better than some slightly older i3 chips and the majority of AMD chips (excluding 8 core). Competition is being reborn on the cpu front at either end of the market it seems.

Good catch CAT, looks like the 1050 loses a few frames in each test while the 460 holds position. It's hardly definitive, but certainly an interesting point...

The benchmarks are actually on computerbase (https://www.computerbase.de/2017-01/...est-kaby-lake/ - in German, so you might want to use a translation service ) and show the expected variation between benchmarks - where AMD are well optimised the Pentium is still slower than a quad core Kaveri (e.g. Truecrypt), but in single-threaded tasks it's very competitive (hardly surprising @ 3.5GHz).

It'd be interesting to see the G4560 compared to an X4 845 - Excavator was meant to improve single threaded benchmarks, and as noted above there are tests out there when even Kaveri wins out against it. Hopefully AMD will have plenty of Bristol Ridge AM4 chips available at launch to fill out the lower end, so maybe they'll be good enough to provide a challenge in the < $100 market...?

All in all it's a good little system for the budget minded. Makes me think about updating to an AMD video card.
