None really! I always just look at price, specs, reviews and general visuals - it does annoy me when people pay more for something just because of the brand when there is a superior product on offer for less.

Re: QOTW: Which electronics brands do you favour?

With the exception of doing a PC build, I don't necessarily favour one electronics brand over another. I tend to research the market, and choose the one which best matches my requirements. As I said, when it comes to doing a PC build, I do however have my favourites: -

    Motherboard - Gigabyte
    Memory - G.Skill
    PSU - Corsair
    Cooling - Noctua / Corsair
    GPU - EVGA
    SSD - Samsung
    HDD - Western Digital

I've always had a good experience in terms of performance and reliability with the above brands, which is why I tend to stick to them. I have tried other brands in the past (with varying satisfaction), but I always tend to gravitate towards these.

Re: QOTW: Which electronics brands do you favour?

I'm 'guilty' of this, but only with certain components. For example, I'll only buy memory modules from brands even if they cost slightly more than an equivalent with the same specs from another brand.

Your choices are pretty much identical to mine Only I tend to fine the Gigabyte cards overclock just as well as the EVGA cards for less money

Re: QOTW: Which electronics brands do you favour?

Hmm... I'm not massively faithful to brands because there's nothing to say they'll be as good when I go for a new one, Samsung for example were great with my first tft display but the tv's we bought from them a few years ago were imo pretty shocking...

I will say I've had nothing but good experiences (touch wood ) with Asrock motherboards, HGST hard drives and MS keyboard/mice.. so at present they seem to be the direction I go. I went off Asus when they dropped support of the motherboard and I needed a new one for an OS upgrade (wasn't that old a motherboard) and I've had a gigabyte server board go pop on me so.... My last 2 gpu's have been evga but at the end of the day I look at value for money and what I get from them, I was pretty close to going zotac for my 1060 6gb for example but the better cooler on the evga sc won out.

Re: QOTW: Which electronics brands do you favour?

The only one I can think of off-hand is Nintendo. I'm far more likely to buy a Nintendo console than the same machine from a different brand. If Asus, Panasonic or Apple produced the same machine then I'd be much less inclined to buy.

Anything else I'll see what's available. While I would avoid certain brands I can't think of any I'd particularly favour.

Even if I have a slight preference for some brands,it does not overrule me checking reviews first to see if the product I am considering is any better than the competition.

Re: QOTW: Which electronics brands do you favour?

I've never been one to blindly trust in a brand name, regardless of if it's electronics, groceries, or any other industry.

I'm more interested in weighing up price, specifications and reviews (when possible) of the item(s) I'm looking at before deciding.

Re: QOTW: Which electronics brands do you favour?

I kind of lean towards Samsung for high-end TVs, but I don't like their phones. Other than that, not really brand-loyal...

I don't favour any brand however i will try to avoid particular products from particular brands, for instance I've found Samsung tend to use cheap capacitors in their displays so would prefer to pay a little more for a non-Samsung TV or monitor.

Re: QOTW: Which electronics brands do you favour?

Seems to be a repeat of preference in the storage dept. I'm the same with SSD's ( Samsung ) and HDD's ( Western Digital ) I've always favoured AMD CPU's for " Bang for Buck " anyway the competition to Intel is needed. Motherboards I normally go for Asus or Gigabyte , no qualms with either , just based on features and price budget at the time. I've always stayed with LG for monitors , actually use a 32" full HD tv as my monitor now. Currently running an XFX Radeon 5770 GPU , over the top for me as I don't game but has been solid. PSU's I don't have a preference but currently have a 650w XFX which I got for a steal. Only brands I will not entertain are Apple , Sony and Seagate due to their marketing and sales practises.

Re: QOTW: Which electronics brands do you favour?

I'm in the not-favouring camp; while some brands do have or have had good track records, this doesn't guarantee good quality or value of a particular product. For many years people were in favour of Seagate for desktop HDDs (I still have a lot of old 160GB IDE Barracudas going strong), then they had a stinker of a time with 1 & 2TB Barracudas for a number of years - I had one go pop with very little use. As a result I tend to avoid certain brands for unsolved underlying quality issues rather than gravitate to any particular one for non-functional reasons.

As a brand Samsung is rather problematic due its sheer breadth and scale; their microelectronics are decent quality, their desktop HDDs are OK, but their TVs are disappointing (very slow UI). IMO they turn out decent mobile device hardware (Note7 battery debacle aside obviously).

Noctua have an advantage in being small and focused - so far their products are decent quality with great performance and long warranties. However, they are slow with product development and a few competitors have similarly good products. This is why we need Hexus, to keep us up to date with developments and comparative product reviews!

None. I have no brand loyalty to any retailer or manufacturer. I buy the best that I can get for my money and each component is thoroughly researched before purchase.
