Leap of faith? Hell, no.
Firstly, the ones I'm interested in aren't likely to be among initial supplies. Second, I'm not in any hurry so am certainly not paying eary-adopter premiums. I'll wait for competitive pressures to kick in. Third, I want to see some in-depth testing and be aware of potentual pitfalls and gotchas first.
So no. Some other person can be adventurous and jump straight in the deep end. I'll let them test for for sharks.
No as I am more than happy with my current X99 system.
But yes I am hoping that AMD has got it right with these chips, we need more competition.
No! but i'm kicking my self for buying Intel 7700k arrghh Whyyyyyyyy but then again Ryzen 1700x is near enough the same price as the Intel 7700k when it came out. The Asus Maximus Hero motherboard is the same price as the Intel Version. Overall cost wise its only what £25 give or take. I like the fact these are very good & better at Multi threaded applications. Maybe I can win a AMD Ryzen from the Hexus competitions.
No. I need to see some more gaming benchmarks first. My current i5 4670K will do for now.
Pre-order a completely unknown quantity that'll release whether I do so or not?
That would just be foolish.
Most definitely not, I didn't even plan to upgrade to the first gen of Ryzen at all to start with. Although I admit now that I am starting to cave and I think as soon as a the right bundle comes out I will jump on it provided the news stays good, I really can't be bothered to buy it all separately, I'd rather wait and know I can fit it all and run it as soon as received!
Anybody have any idea what kind of safe temps we are looking at for these chips yet?
Edit - changed my mind since then, I've gone and pre-ordered a 1700x bundle from scan, comes with the asus x370 pro, 16gb Corsair Vengence DDR4 RAM and a Corsair H100i. I know, I am a lunatic, but this is going to be a big boost from an 8350 regardless of whether or not it lives up to the hype.
Still undecided, I'll wait until we've seen the benchmarks / potential pitfalls and for any movements in pricing between AMD and Intel. I'll probably wait until Vega comes out before making any decisions about upgrading my system later this year, my old Sandy Bridge system is showing signs of its age now.
At least it'll give time for bios updates etc from motherboard manufacturers (that and I'm inclined to build a more compact system this time around).
Not going to pre-order... might consider it a bit later on in the year though. I'm kind of curious to see how intel will react when it's out in the wild too purely because unless they release an 8 dimm am4 board, intel still has that as a plus point on the 2011 socket from my perspective.
I am interested in the 4C and 6C models but will be more limited by when mini-ITX motherboards will be released.
Defintely interested. For both myself and for my SFF musician friend.
Waiting on the Tarinder Test !
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
I don't tend to pre-order anything. I need reliable reviews from multiple sources to make an informed decision!
Nope -no need to when I already have a 6700k. Even if I didn't it would be way to early - it will take a few years of decent CPUs to come out of AMD before I would consider switching to them from Intel..it's an expensive move (needing a new mobo + the CPU of course), and risky at the moment when they are just not proven yet.
Never say never but currently no compelling reason to switch.
No, very interested but want to see some real world benchmarks first and some proper reviews.
