Lozenge shaped moulded aluminium chassis is so curvy it needs stabilisers.

Re: Bitfenix Portal ITX chassis announced

Hm, first thing I always look for is the volume in litres.
Which seems to be missing (which is why skinflint/geizhals is such a good price comparison tool: someone has gone to the trouble of calculating it).
Anyway: 185 * 382 * 411 = just over 29 litres without the stand. Seems a bit big for mITX to me. I'd expect mATX for this size.

This 'novel design concept' is said to transcend traditional boxy cases
Because it still is a box, just with big, bulky cladding to hide the fact...

So why'd they call it the Portal, then... ?

Because when you look through that roof window, you walk out of a world of having money, and into a world of needing the most aesthetically pleasing RGB graphics card available.

That, or it's like the Tardis except it's actually smaller on the inside, thus requiring ITX for a nearly-mATX sized case, as kompukare said.

Nice to see them making this kind of case again. I thought maybe they'd killed off this kind of style. It's good that the window is optional, too.

My last desktop case was the Aerocool m-ATX Gaming Cube - similar design idea, and again they were smart to offer it in windowed and non-windowed! I wish there had been more cases using this kind of aesthetic.

Yeah I don't see the attraction plus with its shape it will take up more space.

It makes a change from another box, I like it. The graphics card window is a nice feature, that side of a graphics card is never seen except in reviews or images on the box.

Any case that isn't cuboid will suffer in volume comparisons, but no-one tetrises their desk enough for it to matter -for one, you'd ruin the airflow. My TJ-08e has almost the same volume with an ATX PSU, MATX motherboard, 2 5.25" bays, but it's just a box with mesh on the front - no way near as nice to look at

Which always makes me wonder why they do that... Fifteen pics of the fan side, none of the actual front or the top plate, which are the views most people will see anyway...
