Re: Microsoft Windows 10 Creators Update arrives on 11 April
This has been the least anticipated Windows 10 release for me so far.
Re: Microsoft Windows 10 Creators Update arrives on 11 April
I'll probably skip this one. None of my software is new enough to warrant the upgrade and don't use the Windows store.
I'm happier to treat Windows as a foundation rather than a complete OS.

If you're on Windows 10, how excactly do you propose to skip the update?

"Defer updates" for Pro users.
You can completely disable automatic updates using group policy. You can even choose your updates and hide others using the Windows Update MiniTool.
I'm still on version 1511. (Tried anniversary but rolled back using a system image as it has two infuriating bugs with explorer/libraries that sent my aspergic tendancies haywire!)

It's not possible for everyone and I don't know what version anselhelm has, but skipping updates is a requirement for me because of bandwidth... limitations. Just requires some $$$ as expected with M$oft (Pro / Enterprise versions only?) and a little persuading.

Mixed reality...?
They've turned LSD flashbacks into an OS, now?
Re: Microsoft Windows 10 Creators Update arrives on 11 April
Not a lot in it for me but am interested in the mixed reality mode.
Re: Microsoft Windows 10 Creators Update arrives on 11 April
Building an ISO with it at the mo for the new laptop.
Re: Microsoft Windows 10 Creators Update arrives on 11 April
Swear it's turning into another Microsoft Bob
Re: Microsoft Windows 10 Creators Update arrives on 11 April
Great, more rubbish that I don't want or need. Guess I will be spending some time uninstalling or disabling things again.
Re: Microsoft Windows 10 Creators Update arrives on 11 April
Isn't this the day that Ryzen 5 is released. Coincidence?

As far as I know deferring updates will only get you so far, as I believe you cannot defer for more than 6 months with Windows 10 Pro. You may be more lucky with Enterprise and Education, especially the LTSB (long term support branch) versions, but you cannot readily get your hands on those either.

Group Policy is the way to do it, defer is for when you haven't figured out Group Policy yet... ;) But, yes, given that I use Enterprise it's sort of cheating.

Game mode looks a plus - ring-fencing more resources for your game threads. I think there is also a night-mode/blue filter thing being added, which I suddenly have a requirement to dim my monitor sometimes in the evenings, and I hate upsetting the finely balanced monitor-controls.
