AMD has published its latest drivers, Radeon Software Driver 17.4.2 and Radeon Pro Software Driver 17.4.2, designed specifically for today’s release of Windows 10 Creators Update by Microsoft.
"Along with support for the Windows 10 Creators Update, the new Radeon Pro Software 17.4.2 driver also enables professionals to create and review 8K content in its native resolution with our upcoming Radeon Pro Solid State Graphics (SSG) technology that will enable real-time post-production of 8K video. The update also enables 8K output on Radeon Pro graphics cards with the necessary hardware support, currently the Radeon Pro WX 7100, 5100 and 4100."
So, can I update my laptop directly from 1511 or do I have to try and get it to do the Anniversary Update (which hangs at 32%) before updating to the new version?
I got caught out by this update.
Guess who spent 20 minutes the other night checking drivers, graphics card and cables as the colour on the monitor was going orange. I didn't even see the icon at the bottom for the night mode switched on until later

That's an example of why I object to forced updates. While I can see the point of security patches and bug fixes, I don't want MS making ANY other feature changes to my carefully configured and set up systems, without my explicit approval.
For instance, the article refers to 'most' of this being about gaming. Well, I have a gaming PC and don't do ANY gaming on other machines. It also updates Edge, which I don't want and don't use, and Cortana, on which Hell will Freeze Over first.
Yet, MS seem inclined to implement and enable even relatively innocuous features like 'nightmode' without so much as a "please".
Microsoft, my PC is MY PC, not yours, even if it's running your software (or in my case, if it were running W10, which it isn't). Don't mess with it without asking.
Night mode is the first good feature they've added since Windows 10 was released. Everything else is stuff I can hopefully disable.
Best "feature" so far is that multichannel audio balance now works correctly....can't believe it took them this long to fix

Just a quick FYI that if you are running Windows 10 N/K then you will need to reinstall the Media Feature pack and its not been updated on the main website. You need to get the updated version on this support page: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...703-april-2017
