Re: Microsoft announces its Windows 10 Fall Creators Update plans

... Some will be surprised that Microsoft is going to enable the installation of Ubuntu, SUSE, and Fedora Linux distributions as apps via the Windows Store. ...
Don't see why - I thought by know everyone knew that Microsoft loves Linux

Well that Fluent design video was pointless. How about some real examples rather than brief glimpses... It was more advertising than an introduction to a new UI style.

Re: Microsoft announces its Windows 10 Fall Creators Update plans

The new looks good but it also has a bit of vibe of iOS7 onwards about it (ie flat plus blur). Not a bad thing if done right though.

I really don't like the idea of timeline, that better be able to be turned off because I don't want my 'personal' information automatically syncing between other devices let alone the idea that someone can come on my pc a 'month' later and find a file I was working on or 'viewing' just by scrolling. Maybe it's just me that if I want stuff synced I'll do it myself rather than it going via ms onedrive....oh wait they want to get people paying to store data online so now I understand.... nope I'll stick with a nas/home file server thanks

That's how i felt about the descriptors they used, it's almost like they swallowed a marketing terms thesaurus, deliver intuitive, harmonious, responsive and inclusive cross-device experiences and interactions, expressive and engaging.

Apparently that's how we do things now. You don't need useful details, you make fluffy adverts.

So far I have found Windows store apps to be more problematic, stripped-down and non-functional compared to their desktop brethren.......that trend does not bode well for iTunes!

Really.... the last time I used itunes it was so bloated with unnecessary junk, I only wanted it to transfer music to an ipod nano) that stripping it down to the bare minimum might actually be an improvement lol

If linux is on the windows store, could you install it on windows 10 cloud and then install whatever you like in the linux bit?

    True.

However, if you give a pig a hair styling and manicure (swineicure??), apply careful makeup and put it in a designer dress, it's still a pig. Though, probably now an angry pig.

that's very true, I'd sooner have a virus on my pc than itunes, a virus is easier to get rid of.
