What does it matter now if men believe or no?
What is to come will come. And soon you too will stand aside,
To murmur in pity that my words were true

I'm slowly converting more and more people to IKEA's MARKUS office chair.
For the price you'll not beat it - simple, comfortable and built like a tank.
I've got a second hand office chair that you can sit on when gaming. I might put it up for sale as a second hand gaming chair - should be good for £100,

Is it me or does these socalled "gaming chairs" all look alike? Honestly, I'd be hard pressed telling them apart if not for some company logo branded on them. And I find them all equally hideous.
You'd be hard pressed finding a decent (24/7) office chair for £150. Maybe if you add another zero.
The really good office chairs cost from around £800 and upwards. It's a bit hard to recommend one in particular, though, because how you comfortably you sit in one is incredibly individual. It would be best if you could actually try them out before buying.
For instance, I had my eyes set on a Sedus Mr. 24. It ticked all the boxes and looked incredibly comfy and I even got an great deal on it (less than half price). Had to return it, though, because it *wasn't* comfy ...at least not for me. That it had a "custom" height adjustment and the subsequent minimum height was way too high certainly didn't help, though.
I don't know if they're available in the UK, but Kinnarps 8000 series may be worth looking into. I have one at work and I'm pretty pleased with it.
For what it's worth I eventually treated myself to the one in the middle. It's a low-back Berg 89-11 and it set me back about £1100. It's genuine leather (hand-knitted) and the armrests are mahogany.

I'd have to agree the price is terrible for a chair of PU leather. For me PU leather chairs have only ever lasted about 3 years before all the PU leather is cracking and falling off. This time round when I needed a new chair I just took the base from my old chair and welded it to a real adjustable car seat and to top it off I gave it some fancy wheels/castors.... total spent £30
Depends how you define "really good"...
Your low-back Berg 89-11 for over a grand looks insanely uncomfortable, for example.
See, you don't need to go insanely expensive to get something suitable.
You need adjustability more than leather upholstry. You need firm, supportive padding rather than cool Scandi design.
This is why even the cheaper* chairs will be better than an über expensive branded one.
A lot of these brands like Herman Miller and Humanscale are just designer brands. Their kit is no better than the average and they're only expensive because managers with company expense accounts are stupid and gullible.
It's like Ikea for those with year-end budgets to use up... HM also break too easily, in our experiences.
The current Kinnarps range is somewhere in between executive idiot and practical office user, but still a touch pricey for home users.
*relatively speaking. You don't want to sink to the OfficeChairOnline.con level, but there are decent retailers with decent kit for a couple hundred.
I'd rather buy a second hand/refurbed Steelcase, Humanscale or Herman Miller.
Wheres the RGB light? Need to find a way to sync it all together with rgb mouse, keyboard, mat, headset and PC.
RGB EVERYTHING!!!
The demographic for these chairs just doesn't have the money to drop on a chair. Parents must take one look at this and think their kids are mad for asking for it.
You are widely overestimating folks. Putting aside 16-22yos with a job, you forget about those folks past that who still think this rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish is cool (I know more than a few 25-28yos who found this tat "totes tits" and yes, unfortunately, that is a direct quote)
WOW £300 for this just WOW
